It's very telling on how the Dodgers decimated virtually every team not only by winning games with their power at the plate, high I.Q. running bases and even better defense, then throw in their hobbled, injured, tired, and out of sequence pitching staff that they virtually demoralized every team even before the first pitch that every team basically knew in advance that no matter how good their team was that they knew that every game had and must be played at a high, error free and impeccably disciplined game to even compete with the Dodgers. And as we learned, that's exactly what the Dodgers scouting report was all about heading into the playoffs and World Series. That no matter the score, the Dodgers just needed to play their game just like their first game of the season when players are super sharp to make sure that their spot on the roster wasn't a fluke, that their disciplined experience would make a difference. The only team that I was worried about wasn't the Yankees at all, but the San Diego Padres. But even then, with their backs against the wall, they didn't panic, they took one pitch and one play at a time and just executed their part and in the end it paid for itself with a World Title. But looking at all the teams during free agency with the East coast teams like the Yankees and Mets shoring up their teams for November & October It's pretty telling that the Padres haven't made any real big splashes in free agency this winter. Either they have faith in their current roster that they have enough to beat the Dodgers, that the Dodgers beating them this past year was a fluke and don't need to upgrade their roster, or that they've conceded that no matter what they spend they just can't beat them? Remember, they had Juan Soto but they lacked the foresight in building around him, thus losing him to the Yankees, but as we saw that still wasn't enough. So if the Dodgers could win a World Series by dominating teams with basically 2-3 semi-healthy pitchers and now going into 2025 and having all of their starters healthy plus Ohtani entering the rotation that teams are just content to just making the playoffs and hoping the Dodgers somehow implode before facing them. Signing Teoscar as their clean-up batter speaks volumes, what team in their right mind would let the Dodgers re-sign their clean-up hitter who had an amazing 2024 season and post-season? It's interesting that even the Mets who signed Soto still couldn't sign Teoscar, so you're telling me it was easier to sign Soto than Teoscar? Gonna be interesting to see how every other team deals with the Dodgers. Oh, and don't forget that they also signed Snell!!
