We've a Merlo a bit younger but same dash, most of the dash has been bypassed to seperate switches, the ignition switch also rewired & changed to a normal one, had a problem starting with the fwd/rev stalk but new ignition switch cured that.

Keep up with the great videos ,love listening to your irish voice , all my working life i only once had a new tractor ,worst move i ever made ,the depreciation was horrific ,better an older machine and a few repairs from your mechanic friend ,you know your machine ,wish i had the money to buy a full set of tyres for you as it is not easy what with money being so hard to make in this day and age ,keep the chin up things usually come to those who have the patience to wait ,take care be safe Tom

Just seeing other comments thing is with JCB and manitou is they have a torque converter and gears , better for going up hill and pushing/pulling but the merlo's with hydrostatic wont run away down hill and are better for delicate/fine movment work tbh, dont have to knock merlo constanly into neutral so engine isnt straining like the torque converter machines too

JCB robot skid steer but with telescopic boom , probably half the price of a handler new , you have 1 joystick for forward/back/ right/left and another joystick that works the loader like a quickie loader joystick on a tractor , would do as a yard machine and keep the merlo for the pit/field work . Have a Robot 190 here tbh 1 of the best things we bought but extra forward reach is what shes missing.

Yes, probably the 8grand would be against an over priced newer one, maybe a loader on one of the tractors would help, always a back up and you could take it of and on, l like your videos showing the ordinary guy trying this best to work away, not everyone has minted stuff. Keep the videos coming now spring is just round the corner, when do you start lmbing, April will be early enough this year.

as you say yourself with the amount of money needing spent around the place best thing is to fix all problems with the merlo as she isn't bad and she should keep going another while. a lot of lads with newer model teleporters (all makes) seem to be having trouble with them.

Loader on the tractor as a back up, plus you could use it for carting bales instead of taking a tractor and handler. Changed a tractor a 3 years ago and ended uphaving two tractors and loaders wouldn’t go back now you use both a lot more than you’d think

What age is that merlo anyways and what type of hours is on her? Bit of a tighten up and a new set of shoes and it could be back to being efficient again. For a beef farmer that yoke seems about right and as u say it wouldn't make sense to be upgrading that yoke considering u will only be getting pennies and a middling second hand one would be 25-30k

Yeah just an idea to consider I guess, we have a quicke loader that is top spec, does a lot of hard work, cant match a new merlo but for 6k brand new does a good job and is reliable

Ask Tom Pemberton for his old tyres!! He's just changed his Manitou tyres for new ones, the old ones have more tread on than you have. Lol!! Seriously if funds are tight keep her going as long as possible. A few hundred quid a year on repairs is cheaper than a new one. Have you thought of looking for a part worn set of tyres from a breakers or looking through the adverts for some second hand ones just to keep you going for now?

The poor Merlo, new tyres would like million dollars👍 it’s easy to say replace old girl but if only small repairs n total operation cost like fuel, parts, insurance is still reasonable then keep her. Maybe one give her TLC a full clean down, take all panels off blow/wipe her down, full inspection n replace anything looks warned out. Future replacement maybe JCB or Bobcat, we are running Bobcat TL38.70HF its been good so far.

Just keep working with old merlo. New ones give trouble too. As you say. Getting someone when you need them and them good at job is worth every penny. Thats what gets to me sometimes. Im a mechanic and a farmer. I would go to anybody, to try and help at any time r day. But then when bill is made, it might just not be sorted as quick as yoke was. Lol.

weve got a 2003 26.6 merlo. When she does run she doesn't run above maybe 1500 revs after 10 mins of work. At the moment shes sat standing not starting, pretty sure its a fuel issue. Anyone any ideas as to why she struggles to rev up?

Not sure, I've had issues with lift pump before but that was more she would stall if you didn't keep the revs on

if a perkin flat top engine fitted might have a diafram on the outside ofthe injector pump that splits and draws air and might cause the symptoms you have .......also check that the strainer over the diesel pipe in the fuel tank is not blocked .....

Good video. Just mind her a bit more. Put the buck rake on the tractor for silage pit. A tractor loader would be handy too, but anyone use to loading shovels hates tractor loaders. And sometimes it cheaper to pay the bank manager than a mechanic. BUT DONT SELL HER.

Spending good money after bad on that machine can be false economy, 8 grand for that l would have taken it, put a couple of grand two it and pay the wrest up, all those cows must bring abit in and the sub, in afew years when the sub is gone or away less you will not be able to do it and that machine won't last much longer.
