Hi Hema, This is such a great video and inspired me to get Meyer lemon tree. I am in Massachusetts and I have the tree indoors. It was growing buds so nicely and all of a sudden something happened and it started dropping buds (without getting brown). I lost all the buds and now the leaves are dropping. They are not tuning yellow but just dropping out green. Was wondering if you would have any suggestions as to what can fix this problem. I really do not want my meyer lemon tree to die.

Thanks for your lovely feedback! My Meyer lemon at this moment is growing lots of flower buds too even though it is indoors for winter. But I definitely wouldn’t expect the buds to turn into fruit because the plant needs good amount of direct sunlight on it for the flowers to turn into fruit. So don’t be disappointed. Once you keep the plant outside in full sunlight, I am sure it will start flowering again. But to get flowers turn into fruit, you should keep it outside for a minimum of 4-5 months under direct sunlight. Once the fruit is formed and is the size of a grape, and in case the temperatures drop below 50 degrees and you are forced to bring the plant indoors, you can give it some grow light and let the fruit mature ( since the maturing of fruit also needs lots of light) But if you’re planning to keep the plant indoors all the time, I am not sure how fruitful it would be.Regarding the green leaves dropping, could be because of irregular watering whereas leaves yellowing and dropping is a sign of nutrient deficiency.

@@Myhomegarden-unlimited Hello Hema, Thank you for the response. I will place the plant outside in spring so hoping for new flower bud growth. The tree has lost almost all leaves and some branches are starting to turn brown so, I repotted it to see if the root system is okay and it seems healthy. I just loosened up the compact roots and repotted it and see if it continues doing well. I have added a humidifier to see if that helps too. I have not been watering it much as I read a few places online that you should hold back watering a bit in winter. Hope it stays alive for a few more months!

Thanks for your sharing, during the winter months you brought the tree into living room or sun room?
@Myhomegarden-unlimited Жыл бұрын
I brought my Meyer lemon tree into my unheated basement where the temperature ranges between 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s practically impossible to bring the tree into my living space because mine is a basement house however that would have been even better for the tree.

When you remove half the roots it is wise to remove half the branches as well

I didn’t know that. Moreover, that was the first time I root pruned the tree so didn’t think much about it. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I will keep this in mind.
