A true legend of Urhobo music. I lived just opposite his house in Ughelli between 1997 and 2000 betore moving to South Western Nigeria. Papa Adjan is a highly talented, dynamic vocalist. He does a lot of rifts and runs, slaws etc... without any sort of formal training. It's so amazing. By the grace of God, I sing too and I'm also a voice coach and a gospel music producer. I can confidently say that his singing skills and dexterity has no match. Whenever I listen to him, I keep wondering how he got to know how to do those rifts and runs. He's a true legend. All I feel like doing now is presenting a gift to this great legend who made us proud in his prime and even now. Above all, I'm so happy to know today that he hails from my loving late dad's village of 'Ofuoma' in Ughelli. We are from the same village after all; wow! Papa, may God perfect your healing in Jesus's name amen.

Thank you Kingsley for this interview. I am very happy to see that he is still alive and looking this good. The greatest ever of all Urhobo musicians. We pray we have another of his kind. May God grant him many more years and health. Someday, we will be in position to honour the legendary Professor. Thank you baba J. for your great works, you and all those who sang with you.

The kind of support and fanfare that followed madam toothpick should be accorded this encyclopedia of Urhobo culture and heritage. Its a shame no king has deemed ut fit to honor him with a proper chieftaincy title

You know he was a man of his own principles remember he was giving the president of Urhobo musicians he didn't accept before late okpan take over so don't blame anyone he believe in his own ways as a traditional worshiper respect to him always listen to his songs till tomorrow

This interview should have been done 10 to 15yrs ago when papa Johnson was younger and could give proper account and history of his successful career. The only question I have is how much does he still have in his old age and what about his family, especially children. For his stature and level, his children should have been well established and he should still be rubbing shoulders with top echelon of Urhobo, cause he played at every important function and he made good money. It's a shame, this man should br in the league of Sunny Ade

My thoughts exactly. Unfortunately, Urhobos don't know how to support nor celebrate their legends. Papa is too great a musician to be like this. It makes me sad. He has been doing rifts and runs over 50 years ago without any formal training. It's so unbelievable. He amazes me, just by listening to him. I feel like crying, really. He is so talented to be like this. I pray God makes it possible for me to meet him again soon.
