That was me that brought my friend's ashes to the show in Fort Wayne on 6-14-2001 at a nightclub called Broadripple's.. my long time friend Richard Magnet passed away on May 3rd 2001 at the age of 60.... We both had tickets for the show and he was really looking forward to going when he suddenly died unexpectedly... He didn't have any family so I took care of the funeral arrangements and had him cremated... That's how I ended up with his ashes... So I decided since he couldn't be there in person, and since he did have a ticket,, I decided to bring his ashes... I'm sure he would have appreciated that.... I wish a pic could have been taken of the looks on the band members faces when after I handed the box of ashes to them, and explained what was in the box

Great story! Maybe Mick will see this and reply. Certainly something he’ll never forget!

They are nice guys and committed rockers to the core, but pretty shrewd too. Embracing the internet early (they had one of the best websites of any band as early as the mid-90s) made sure that their tour info, music, band history, interviews, et. al. were widely disseminated long before other bands caught on. This kept their fanbase alive, connected, and growing, which has helped Heep sustain its constant touring to this day. Box (and Bernie, and the whole band of this era) understood the value in fan interaction; it has given them one of the most loyal fanbases any band has ever enjoyed. Good interview; I think you got them to go into some interesting stuff here.

Bernie is so hick lol but so awesome and funny and entertaining. Funny how he was blown away by the internet those days. Understandably. I remember first time I heard that a phone will have a camera in it. I COULD NOT WRAP MY HEAD AROUND THAT. Ling live Heep. RIP Lee, Lawton, Ken and basically everyone really. Mick. I never was a big fan of urs. But being the only one left. Take care. Rock on.
