it's crazy. i think fangraphs ran like 3000 simulations of the 2021 season and hte Orioles didn't make the postseason once. Even the Pirates i think managed once or twice but yes the Pirates are 10000x more of a trainwreck than the Orioles. If the Pirates played in the AL, they for sure would have broken the record for worst season this year.

I'd forgive this slip 50 times before forgiving the first baseman not touching first and engaging in a needless and foolish rundown. Say, maybe first base is smaller than regulation size or maybe it's not properly lit. Could strobe lights next to the bag maybe help? Maybe they need counseling to tame their fear of touching first base. Maybe they need their vision checked more regularly.
