This is an excellent video. It helped me to formulate questions for my urologist. ' 'Urodynamics consistent with an atonic bladder - prostate surgery not required.' ' This the only information the NP gave me after the procedure was complete.

As this is a very gender specific test, if you are uncomfortable being exposed in front of the opposite sex, when your doctor tells you that you need the testing done, tell him/her the testing must be done by same gender caregivers in order to respect your dignity and better protect your privacy. Then a couple of days before the test, call the facility that will be doing the testing to verify they have same gender caregivers in place to do the testing. If you wait until you walk in the door the day of the testing, you may hear (we'll , we never got the orders that you prefer same gender caregivers), at that point you have two choices, let whomever they have assigned do the testing or, walk away & reschedule telling them you want same gender caregivers. It's up to you to be alert to this issue and say something if you want same gender caregivers. Regards, Raffie

does it really matter for Doctors? I don't think they really care after seeing the same thing so many times and so many variations.. it is Business As Usual for them. we should on other hand see it as any other doctor visit. one less headache/panic to deal with.

@@nikilkvn. It's not about the doctors. It's about how the patient feels being intimately exposed & handled by the opposite sex. Many men don't like being intimately exposed & handled by female healthcare workers. They have just as much right to have male caregivers as those men that prefer female healthcare workers for their intimate medical needs.

when you have an ailment, primary goal should be to reduce that ailment and become healthy and go back home. personal space takes last precedence in hospitals and it should be like that.. intimacy and sense of touch is only external skin. for a treating doctor we are just a piece of meat. is it not? why can't we think beyond the limitation of skin sensitivity. human body is beyond that. it is not about rights also. tomorrow I say, I cannot have a female blood to be transfused into me.. ? i personally feel this is a silly ask. if someone is thinking in that terms, we should explain them, "you are just a mere meat packed in human body which can think and have emotions" that doesn't change anything. get treated, become healthy and go back home safe.. Do you have male nurses or techs for male patients and female for female patients? If you don't at this time have male staff for male patients please start getting them for men who are like women modest and do not feel comfortable having private area procedures by opposite sex personel. For those of you who may ridicule our opinion we do not object to your private feelings. Please check out some doctors who have sites about male and female modesty needs. Many men will not get the necessary medical care so as to avoid having women present or performing these tests and procedures. I for one have been embarrassed, humiliated and treated with disrespect by female nurses, xray techs and cnas. I refuse to have any more prostate, urinary or scrotal testing done because of the lack of respect of my modesty. My surgeon said I may need more but no way.

Is it necessary to have this test if I already know why I can't urinate ? Spina Bifida did that. I'm just trying to figure out why I don't get any out by cathing like I did before my shunt surgery?
