I brought my 1 year old last month from india all by myself.. Great experience. I was mentally prepared for months .. I got scared when the air hostess got surprised that i am traveling alone.. I flew emirates from Chennai to Chicago Via Dubai..the air hostess were NOT friendly.. I asked them to bring the food after my baby sleeps but they said they can’t warm up the food .. It was very hard to eat the food and at the same time have the baby on my lap .. overall if you can avoid getting in to this type of situation please avoid it ..

1) On the Vaccination part, my pediatrician said Its not needed. So we didn't do any vaccines for Malaria etc. But we did carry all the medicines like Tylenol etc 2) At the Chennai Airport, there are Professional helpers who will assist you in carrying the luggages until Check in. Its 500Rs per cart and you get a receipt as well. Its totally worth it. 3) I made a mistake of not carrying a thermoflask for Hot water. I thought I can easily get it from the air hostess. But thats not the case, they are always busy and its hard to get hold of them. 4) There are not many family changing rooms in Dubai airport at the terminal where we board the flight to US. I roamed a lot and found that near the Kids playing area, there are couple of Mothers Room which is always free. 5) Prep your feeding bottles ahead of time. Keep them ready with the necessary scoops of formula. So whenever needed, you can just pour warm water and use it 6) I boarded the flights in the end. That way , you can save sometime away from the flights. Only downside to this is , you might NOT get a place in the cabin (above your seat) to put your carryon. I told the air hostess, wherever you place my diaper bag during take off/Landing, bring it back to me after. 7) After the 14 hour flight to US, there is another hurdle to be crossed. Waiting in Queue for Immigration at Chicago. There is no special queue for Kids. Be mentally prepared for that as well. It doesn't stop there. Your bags dont arrive that quickly. There is labor shortage right. So prepare to wait for the bags as well.
