Greatly enjoyed it. I grew up at 7641 South Shore Drive in the 1940s, '50s, and '60s. You passed my old house at 5:06. The neighborhood has not physically changed much since then but it has changed economically and ethnically. It is sad that Chicago has not been able to redevelop the old US Steel South Works (where I once worked) site as seen in the early part of the video.

The north shore neighborhoods need a few modern landmark towers well over 500 feet. Allowing all of those 60's and 70's era boxes to define the lakefront skyline shows how stagnant it is. Only filler has been added over the decades beside Lagrange's 2550 Lincoln Park. Some signature buildings in the 700'-800' range would show progress and reinvent the north shore. You would think the city and developers would both have an interest in enhancing and modernizing our lakefront..

yea, uptown should be the new northern core of bigger towers

@@everglowyoorim1817 Agree 100% But instead Uptown lots are disappearing with underscaled boxes. The TOD projects especially should me a lot more ambitious.

you should redo this same drive on a clear/sunny day the city skyline is lost in the haze

I was at the original McCormick Place as a kid before it burned down. They held the International Trade Show there. I still recall hearing on the radio while getting ready for grade school in the morning that it was on fire.

Ay the 6.11 mark, are several hotels, which during to 40s,50s housed visiting major league baseball teams.

Thanks for making this video, it really helped me out. A friend suggested I take this route to avoid the tolls ($45 for a big truck!), but I think I'll find another way =)
