Thank you for this footage. My father was a Cobra pilot with B Troop, 2/17 Air Cav, 101st Airborne Air Assault, in Vietnam '71-'72. He didn't talk much about what it was like. These videos give me a good idea of what it must have looked like for him. He died of cancer at age 48 from Agent Orange.

Could you imagine being a pilot or door gunner in a UH-1 Huey, and seeing one of these for the first time flying past you effortlessly in cruise? 😂

In 1968 I was in school at Ft Eustice VA to become Huey Crewchief/door gunner. I had the chance to mess arround with a Cobra for a couple of days thinking it was a race car as opposed to the UH1 truck,

@ haha, no doubt! it and the Hughes 500 were definitely sports cars compared to the Huey?

Having been an AH-1G pilot in Vietnam, I appreciate this video. One minor criticism is the added sound effects of the minigun firing. In the video, it sounds more like a traditional machine gun, where you hear each round being rapidly fired. But the Cobra miniguns just made a solid roar, much like in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJe1oZybopysptUsi=a906Y-KElvLJixyE

Let's stop kidding ourselves. These guys put whooping on the enemy and save thousands of American warriors. They didn't even come close to winning this war.

Allllllllll that firepower…and the NVA/VC STILL drove the Americans out of their country, and reunited their nation under their own rule. REAL warriors.
@crazyralph6386 Жыл бұрын
They can thank LBJ and McNamara for that. The US could’ve easily turned the red zone in NVC into a pile of rubble, but elected not to in order to prolong the war thus increasing profits for the MIC and private contractors.

@@crazyralph6386 - You are forgetting the one and only important REAL REASON that we didn’t ‘obliterate’ North Vietnam; we did NOT want to bring in USSR/China directly into the fight and start WW3… So it was a no win situation.
