Fort Sill Oklahoma I was there 1988 -1989. Hollywood barracks Charlie battery. 13 bravo. I don't really remember many of the names of the guys I trained with back then. I remember I was 23 years of age and the 18-year-olds thought I was ancient kept asking me why I waited so late to join. I do remember senior drill sergeant Segovia. I spent a few years in the Arizona and Virginia National guard units. Then in 1998 10 years later I joined the US Navy and spent four years in there. I'm proud of my service in both branches. Still love the roar of those 109 mm howitzers. And the smell of a gunpowder blast when the cannon goes off. Some good memories Good times and hard training. I must admit that it did help me develop some good work ethics in life.

I was at Ft. Sill from July-November 1989. Charlie 2/30th (Dogs of War) but was not OSUT like this. My AIT was in the main part of the base, just like the commo guys. I was 13P for my first tour. The training accident in September happened in a cycle after mine....we thought ourselves lucky it wasn't us. They change the unit designations around so often but we had, at that time, one of the only female drills there. She was something else and I remember her more than the other instructors. lol...

He was Airborne, Air Assault, Expert Infantry, baddest dude I ever met. Wow I wish they had some footage of me and the 3rd Platoon! I was PG all the way through basic. The only one that didn't get fired. I remember getting and overnight pass for high PT score. I hung at the Gunner's Inn! Ooosha! Field Artillery, the King of Battle!

Ha! I misspelled your name! DS Arellano you really taught me a lot. I felt like I was a real soldier and ready for anything after training. Initially I was NG but a year or so later I went active until mid 1997, for a little over six years. I was E5 on the brink of E6 when I ETS'd. Part of me wishes I had stayed but it's ok. You are one of the toughest DS's ever! I remember you doing pushups on your knuckles on the drill pad! I appreciate you giving me a shout out in front of the CO after BRM.

Do they make videos for each BT / AIT rotation now? I guess that video wasn't so easy to do when I went through in 82 so all that I got was a photo-book and that took about two months to arrive I my parents home--I think that I first seen the book on my second leave after I'd already spent a year at my first permanent party unit, the 2/35 FA, Ft. Stewart, GA. That unit was retired / decommissioned a few years after I moved on to Korea, Germany and HI. I miss the days in uniform but then again...

I went thru in 88 with Echo 3/321. I'm trying to find out the same thing. If you happen to find out please let me know here. My tape was misplaced a long time ago. I would love to get a copy. If I find out I'll do the same. Thanks.

This brings back some great memories. I was MP so we didn’t do the heavy artillery, but we went crazy with small arms. And I still have the picture someone took of me when I came out of the gas chamber. Loved the guy at 45:45 I getting the dreaded “no go” and remember well “front leaning rest position”.

@Fat Bear best I remember is two privates were guarding stacked weapons while the platoon was at chow or somewhere. A man dressed as a E-7 and driving a camo truck pulled up, told them he was there to pick up some malfunctioning weapons. He showed them some bogus forms on a clipboard and they let him walk off with several without asking anyone. How do M-16s get stolen all of a sudden??? Intimidated, dumb ass Privates. That's how.
