Just like to add that the so called Hague`s court is not a UN court but a temporarily arbitration tool which disappeared after it's work is done, subject to no accountability, without being overseen, no appelate system,.. almost a fly by night thing. The UNCLOS provides for several dispute resolution methods, most preferred is by negotiation, arbitration is another amongst others. China and Philippines have signed agreements over the decades towards resolving the dispute by negotiation. Obviously, China would not budge now when Philippines reneged on such negotiate method at the behest of ill willed US and Japan. Base on the Philippine history, the relationship between Philippines & the US began in 1898 when they help out with the country's independence against the Spanish Colonization. Which eventually then, the US colonized the Philippines which lasted for 48 years until they finally gave recognition of independence in 1946.
