As a White guy living near the rust belt city of Flint, Michigan, I will always alert out of town visitors to avoid any street named after Martin Luther King, Marcus Garvey, Rosa Parks or any prominent blacks. I let them know if they see an abundance of liquor stores with ads for lotteries or signs welcoming EBT that it's not a good area, just as they should steer clear of neighborhoods with public housing, barred windows, gaudy paint choices and a large quantity of Cadillacs, Lincolns and Mercedes-Benzes. @@GHG_513 No, what happened was a lot of Haitians moved out of Little Haiti into outer suburbs like North Miami, Miami Gardens and Miramar. Also, the widespread gentrification and redevelopment of Overtown, Wynwood, West Grove and now Liberty City has pushed a lot of blacks out of the city. Not even the same amount as it was 15 or 20 years ago. The black population of Miami peaked in the late 80s/early 90s just before hurricane Andrew.

The best way to find out how good or bad a neighborhood is, just look online at the statistics of the local public schools. You want that white percentage as high as possible and blacks as low as possible with Asians being the 2nd highest. Next look at the percentage of students who finished college. When the college graduation rates are high, you know those students have parents who are highly engaged in their childrens future. Which directly correlates to extremely low crime. And most likely your kids will be hanging out with other well adjusted kids.

@thedirtybubble9613 that is true in some cases, but there are other factors as well. Many middle and upper middle class blacks moved voluntarily to better neighborhoods or moved out of the area entirely, to other states with cheaper housing,(as all races have done) Often cashing out their house for a lot of money. For example, in San Francisco the Hunters Point-Bayview neighborhood was a historically black area, now it is over half Chinese. Blacks were able to sell their relatively small houses for over half a million dollars and bought a huge house in another state with enough money left over for a new car etc.

Its really sad that we have so much racism in these comments but as a very highly educated black male who happens to be a psychotherapist as well as a business manager and openly gay, I will continue to pray for you. Racism is sad and it does not make blacks look bad or inferior, it makes you look it. A true classy person embraces diversity.

@trinkabuszczuk6138 So, it is racist to point out the truth? If your culture of violence was ever acknowledged and your folks ever tried to do something about it, then positive change might come about. Every culture has it's bad actors, but some cultures have more bad actors than others. This is not a racist comment, but the truth and the stats prove it.
