How is it that U.S. is not considered an aggressive nation toward China encircling China with over 80 US military bases? US is the non Pacific based nation imposing its so called powers over the Indo Pacific nations & around the South China Sea! Why must the U.S. do that? Until we are able to defend ourselves , then we are forever at the mercy of other countries -- both friend and foe. Some people hate Israel, but they got it right ("Never Again!") when they needed to find a way to defend themselves. With the help of the west they were able to arm themselves as well as develop their own. It also helped that France helped them get the Atom Bomb (yes, they are nuclear-armed) but will neither confirm or deny it and will do all it can to maintain that in the middle east. My point being, we should have our own defense facilities no matter how obsolete by other nation's standard. We will eventually improve but we need to start.

Filipino engineers employs in making chips, electronic boards in biggest semiconductor and electronic companies all over the world. Seeing all the Filipino comments, as an American, I sympathize with your situation and every day I pray China backs down. China is calculating that if any escalation happens over "fishing" or if they take/destroy the Sierra Madre that the US people won't be willing to go to war over it. They're probably right, unfortunately. China has to forcefully try to take land for the American public to draw a line. The trade relationship between the US and China is very deep, and although America is now trying to build up supply chains in other countries like Mexico, India, and of course the Philippines (derisking), which might allow sanctions etc eventually, China makes most American consumer goods and electronic devices today and the global economy can't handle the two powers decoupling to fight or have a trade war right now.
