Oh the irony. In 1967, Ronald Reagan and Bobby Kennedy appeared together on a "Town Meeting Of The World" program aired on CBS in which a group of "students" in London bombarded them with virulently anti-American questions one after another including I would note Anna Ford, who was part of this ITN coverage in 1980. Reagan handled these dispensers of Soviet propaganda effectively and made RFK look bad by contrast, offering a foreshadowing of how as President, which he achieved on this night, he would be the one who would slay the Soviet Empire and win the Cold War.

Amazing detail. Its seems as though its been a rite of passage for British lefties to mock Republicans for quite some time now. I have no doubt that current correspondents from the BBC, ITV, Sky and CH4 had similar view to that of Anna Ford when they were growing up.

Notice how Carter's supporters were cheering when he announced his concession to Reagan? No crying or sobbing like leftists today.

They got the red and blue the wrong way around when showing the results for Republican and Democratic parties. Possibly assumed it was the same as the UK at the time?
@Black-White8519 күн бұрын
No those colours were given to the two parties at that time and up to the start of the 90s I think. Look at any of the US network coverage of those elections and you'll see.

@@Black-White85 Yeah it wasn't until 1996 when NBC finally switched to to match ABC/CBS. Going back in history it was a bit of a mish-mash in 1976 ABC used Yellow and Blue!

At one point they report the re-election of Democrat Senator Herman Talmadge of Georgia. Talmadge ultimately lost to Republican Mack Mattingly.
