Try hereditary, it’s another horror film with a satisfying deep lore. Hereditary and Us are my two favorite horror films right now. Honestly that's the least of the plotholes in the film; start asking questions and the entire thing falls apart. I think the film works best if you try to think of it as like an old fairytale or parable where the message is more important than the story actually making sense. eg. Little Red Riding Hood; it shouldn't make sense that a wolf is able to secretly replace the grandma without anybody really noticing; but it is important to the message as the story was originally intended as a metaphor warning young girls to avoid rapists and pre-marital sex; both of which are represented by the wolf.

There's no Tether like behaviour though. The Tether just don't have the same upbringing. Because they lack certain opportunities they didn't have ability to talk and possibly even write however they are exactly like their counterparts. So it would reason that Tether like behaviour due to being birthed shouldn't matter. This is exemplified simply by the fact that Red took Adelaide's place and assimilates into the above world. Jason isn't a tether because he understood that the tethers just copy their human counterparts (after being in the closet with his tether) and knew that when he saw him standing in front of the car on fire, all he had to do was walk backwards and his tether would follow, walking right into the flames.
