The included directions are sparse so this video shows the few basics that will make the install easy. It is pretty easy to begin with. The owner does include his phone number if you have questions. I called him and he was very responsive. But the few basics I show plus the few included instructions it is easy to do.

For my installation I chose to use 3M high bond double sided foam tape and I also placed the product under the hinges for added security. Self tapping screws were also added.

I totally loved your video on doing this installation of the insulation. I bought my insulation two years ago and have never put it up yet. I like your very simple approach and being very step by step. I'm glad I will be able to have my wife help me so we have more hands doing the work and your tips will come in very handy today.

It says in the directions to pull the tape backing and let it tack up for 1-2 hours in Temps over 70 or 24 hours in temps under 70 degrees before applying the insulation, so the instructions in this video will lead to the insllulation peeling off the adhesive.

Thanks for that update. I purchased and installed my garage insulation three years ago and the instructions did not have that information include. However I have not had any issues. Maybe they changed the tape or maybe I was just lucky.

Possibly both! Looks the same, but I saw a few amazon reviews about the tape not being sticky, so it may have been an update from the owner in response to those reviews

I found it easier to pre-cut everything before installing. Cut to length first, then cut the width of each panel. For the long cuts to trim the 3 inches off of the with Marc at each end and then take a chalk string and snap it just like you’re cutting plywood then with a straight edge and the box cutter provided cut all the way down and you’ll have a nice clean cut Then hold the cut panels and Mark with a pen where the hinges need to be cut. Make your cuts for the hinges, then install much easier.

You have 2 years with the installation since you didn't take out all the hinges (I understand too much work) after this time any of the panels came off? and the hinges over time need some grease over them, did you find it difficult to "lubricate" that behind the panels?
@robfilogomo1573
@robfilogomo1573 Жыл бұрын
The installation now looks just the same as the first day I installed it. I have not lubricated the hinges so I can't answer that part of your question. Thanks

Have you noticed a difference in temperature in your garage with the insulation installed?
@robfilogomo1573
@robfilogomo1573 6 ай бұрын
I noticed about a 3 degree difference. I ended up putting in a mini-split. I feel the insulation helps the efficiency of the mini-split

My instructions say to wait overnight after peeling the tape so it gets tacky, which i guess means I have to cut it first. Your way looks easier.

Do you think this could be used on the garage ceiling? Had a ductless AC/heater and want to save money as much as possible without crawling into my ceiling space. Thanks in advance.

I really don't have the expertise to answer that questions. You could contact US ENERGY PRODUCTS 1211 SW 134th Ave. Miami, FL 33184 Telephone +1 (786) 317-8844 They were every helpful when I contacted them.

Just ordered the kit from their eBay site and what was sent to me looks nothing like this foam core stuff, even though the description states it is. The stuff they sent me has no foam layer on the inside. Rather, it's just two sheets of bubble wrap that are fused together bubble side inward. I cross referenced the address on the outside of the box they sent me and it matched the Tradewinds address they have listed on their Amazon page so apparently it did come from their warehouse. My question is, did they change the material in the kit to a cheaper bubble wrap type, and if so, why is it still being sold as "foam core" when it's really just bubble wrap?

Wow that's crazy. I am in no way affiliated with the company. Have you gone to their website? www.usenergyproducts.com/collections/garage-door-kit-1 or called their customer service? CUSTOMER SERVICES Call us: +1 (305) 549-8998 I do see the stuff I purchased on their website and on Amazon. I hope they get you the correct stuff.

I am getting ready to install this insulation today. My biggest question is whether or not the tape actually holds the insulation in place. I just have a feeling the insulation will either be constantly coming loose or it will be getting damaged all the time from getting hit with things. Wouldn't it be better to use a thick styrofoam type insulation that sits inside the panel?
@robfilogomo1573
@robfilogomo1573 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I can only speak from my experiences. I installed it almost 2 years ago and it looks like when I first installed it. The tape works great but I am not sure what you mean about being hit with things. Mine doesn't get hit. I did put Styrofoam panels in my other house and they always kept falling out and I tried taping them back but it was a constant battle and they never stayed up. But I had issues installing them in the beginning. Hope that helps.

I appreciate this video! I'm on the cusp of ordering one of these kits for my garage door (west-facing in central TX) and I found seeing a regular person's experience with it. I am curious if the roll was long enough that you could have taped the ends to the outer frame, without having to trim it an create an opening (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHKrgYmIgd9rY9U of the video). Thanks again for your video!

i just got a kit as a christmas gift. i too am west facing in texas. i'm currently in the process of looking for videos on installation because the paper instructions are a little vague for me and honestly i'd rather see someone do it first. i'll reply and let you know how it goes.

Why can’t you just tape the panels onto the garage door itself and not on the edges
@robfilogomo1573
@robfilogomo1573 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. I know another product I used at a different house had me do that and the panels kept falling down. You may want to reach out to the company and ask them if your way would work as well.

Taping the panels directly to the side door removes the air pocket, which is what actually “insulates” the garage door.
