trying to get married and getting all the documentation now and debating to get the fe de solteria here or in Spain. My boyfriend is worried that the American Embassy in Madrid would not give me one since I'm not currently living in Spain. Did you have any problems with that?

I was not living in Spain at the time either. But I was in Europe. We didn’t have any problems but we are also in a much smaller area… perhaps it is more difficult in Madrid where they have these requests by the dozen or more every day.

Wow, really? As far as I know anyone that isn’t a national marrying a national has to do it. You lucked out. Although, it really wasn’t that big of a deal. I think the interviews in the States are much more complex.
