And for supporting migrant farm workers…. The farmers couldn’t plant, grow nor harvest without these workers. Think of your own teenagers or adults you… how many could work 8-12+ hours a day trying to get crops in before a big rain storm or even snow for late crops like the persimmons that ripen in mid to late fall. And these folks don’t liven in houses, or get hotel rooms. They sleep in barns or in tents because they are always moving. So no air conditioning or heat. Cook over little campfire type stoves. This is difficult, they work and live like this year in and year out. And they aren’t flown around the country, or take trains either - it’s in trucks and buses. Probably no air conditioning either. This is a hard life for anyone. But they do it because they want to make money that they can’t get in their country. We need these folks. Back in the 50-60s, even some in the 70s- teenagers lined up to work these jobs all summer and in-between when they came home from college. Some transitioned to full time jobs wanted to start farms. Friends of mine about 9 years older than me did it all the time while in school, on the weekends etc during the summer. They did watermelons, Cantaloupes, pumpkins, sweet corn, etc. they helped candle ie prune Christmas trees in July/August when they had to be done to shape the trees. They helped harvest and get up hay grown in the summer. And they loved working out there together enough to go back every year before you graduated. It was hard work, long, hot days and you had to get moving and keep doing all day except for lunch and a break . There were quotas and if you were caught lazing you were given 1-2 warnings and then you were let go. Those usually went to work in the gas stations pumping gas - you don’t have today. Or they worked in the pharmacy stocking shelves etc. Whatever they did they wanted to work, today they just don’t seem to have that same want to do hard work attitude. If they understood what their parents and grandparents suffered in depression years where there might be 1 job to 100 workers and there was no such thing as minimum wage… you worked for what the company could afford to pay. My uncle and his male siblings did farm work or they worked in steel mill starting at 14-15 which was super hot sweaty work. It’s hard to imagine how hard farm kids worked and a lot before school and after school plus their lessons. He couldn’t wait to get to 18 to enlist in the Navy, others in the army. They knew they had a steady job, got paid more money with benefits, they just prayed not to get killed. They saw the world and many different cultures. And they could go home after 4 very busy enriching years, or reenlist for another tour or to make the military a life long career. You don’t see that today even when we don’t have an active war going on. Workers today particularly the young don’t have any respect for their upper management for that matter not their own parents. There is no yes sir, no sir and you just went and did your job. I think we should require all teens to enlist at 18 for at least 2 years.. I think it teaches them respect, they get paid, have veteran benefits, etc. many countries have mandatory enlistment like Israel- it’s girls and boys. Of course some may have health up issues that they can’t do it but most it will teach them a lot that will be helpful in life in general. I wish I had done it, I started to do it because it gives you skills for most jobs and for home life. It pays decently, has benefits like paying for your college, helping buy a home, etc etc. We need to encourage more kids to do so. Some men that went away to war like in WW1 or 2, or Korea in particular- they came home and never wanted anything to do with the military. They hated the whole thing, others had a different way to mentally compartmentalize what they endured, had to do or saw. And once home, they didn’t want to talk about it. They just wanted to get back to their lives prior to war and prior to killing people.

For sure all the farmers and their families plus with help of migrant workers deserve our respects for the hard work. The only I don’t understand is when comes to China especially Xinjiang, there’s different set of rules smearing the hard working Uighurs farmers and families plus migrants workers? In fact all countries are in the same situations. As far as I can read from comments, not many appreciate the hardworking Uighurs farmers but rather propaganda saying forced labor. In fact most of big scales farming in China are done by machines just like the Americans and Europeans. The big western media maybe grom the footage should cry forced labor.
