Us General full bank vs series 2 carts.. with shop dog!

Sharing my thoughts on the new full bank cart vs the older style. This only my illustrates my thoughts pertaining to my setup and needs...

I just picked up the 5 drawer cart a couple weeks ago for $189. After getting it assembled I found that its not exactly flat either, it has a bit of a rock to it so something wasn't drilled right...the holes all line up for the bolts and there aren't any adjustment slots where you could get something out of alignment....however, for the price its a great additional storage box. I have a 20+ year old 44" combo unit that has served me well for all these years and still does, I moved it out to my shop and the 5 drawer cart is in the shed by the carport for frequently used tools. In all the years I've had my 44" combo, the thing sat on my carport outside under cover, but was never covered and never moved until recently. The tool chest is in really good shape, just dusty and dirty from sitting out all these years...probably a bit of faded paint too. Sadly the new US General accessories don't fit the old tool chests as the new ones are I think 22 or 24 inches deep, the old ones are only 18 or 20 inches deep. Hmm, I might do that double cart mod at some point if they have them on sale again in the future, that mod looks like it wasn't a mod, looks like they came that way, almost like they planned for people to do that to them LOL. I don't see where that full bank cart is worth the $700 they want for it...for that price I'd buy another 44" or the 56" chest.

Yeah, I 100 % agree. I'm not saying it's not a good box. It's built really well, great casters and slides. Just didn't quite suit my needs like I thought it would.

They have a tray for the full bank that bolts into the holes for the handle. I believe it’s the same tray as the series 2.

I just got tray for my full bank. They updated and released it for both the 5 drawer and full bank application

You could remove those slides on the full bank cart. I just use the lock on the top of the cart needs to move.

All things considered you still have a nice setup. Have seen people use magnets on the inside back wall to help keep drawers shut if their latches fail. use the handle from the left to drill the holes in the shelf mount and not the box would be the way to save your box finish.

I like the box. My deal is, the drawers are so much bigger. Maybe I just need to buy more tools.

Your flag is hung wrong. The union is always presented in the top left, unless the flag is moving than the union is in the direction of travel. Nice to know save $200 and get two 5 drawers.

About the only thing I'd say is comparable is Innovators West. And don't under estimate the "Pro Race" brand. A lot of people say they're chinese. But they're made in Australia, and are very good quality as well.

Everyone tells me the white tool boxes are a pain to keep clean, is it true? I personally think they look better than the slate grey

I don't think so. Just takes a few seconds to wipe them down when they get a smudge. I will say the finish on the boxes seems really good and they do clean up nice with just a dry shop rag or towel.

I have the Husky box too, in black. That top looks awesome! Is that just plywood? I've kinda been eyeballing the harbor freight 10 drawer side cabinet and thinking if I can bolt it on the side..

Yes the top is just 3/4 ply that is burned lightly an covered in several layers epoxy.

Was looking through your vids for a vid about your 9 drawer and the mods it looks like you made to it. I have the yukon 46" version and am looking for insight on mods for it. Since the Husky and Yukon are very similar i wondered if you might do a vid on that.

It's the space I had to work with, with that box. With the 10 drawer all those things had their own spot. That's why i said the full bank didn't work out for me as well as the stacked cart.
