Have the same exact box in slate, picked up the roll cab last week and HF called today and said the top box came in so will have to arrange pickup on that one.

I've had a gen 1 72 inch box since the 72 came out almost 10 years ago I've had a gen 1 upper 26 inch for 14 years I haven't had a single issue or complaint besides it's heady to move around when fully loaded but it sits in 1 spot in my shop no problem

Nice box, but, there's so much room! Where's the power, diagnostic and special tools? If there's another box, why not get rid of it and the empty boxes? Garage space is more important.

All my special tools in blow mold cases are looking for a home (BJ press, cam tools, coolant/fuel pressure test, etc). They take up a lot of space and I need to find a shelf for them. Power tools stay in my truck which is annoying because I'm always moving them back and fourth. I think a main scan tool will stay on top of the box and the accessories can go into that deep drawer that is currently empty. Thanks for watching!

That's funny you said that you used to think pinless were the way, but changed your mind. I used to think pinned was the way, but got ahold of a matco pinless swivel socket set for stupid cheap on eBay, and I haven't looked back since lol. Which pinless swivels were you using that you didn't like? I have matco pinless in 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4" and love them!! My 1/2" and 3/8" sets are usa made, but the 1/4" are the newer ones that aren't made in the US anymore. I personally haven't noticed a difference between the US made ones and the newer non usa ones, to be honest. They perform the same, and I truly believe they are made the same exact way. Anyway, after I switched over to the matco pinless, I was hooked. They are just so damn short, they have such a slim profile, and I feel like you gain a little extra torque having 4 areas of contact versus 2 areas of contact. I have been using the same sets for nearly a decade, minus the 1/4" set, which is only about a year old. They have held up phenomenally, and I absolutely love them!! They are just so slim, so short, and the range of motion is A1. The only drawback I've noticed is after many years of hard use they do get a little floppy, though, but it hasn't affected their performance. So, which pinless were you using that made you switch? Great video by the way!!

Thanks for the comment. It was either a mac or a matco. I just had the 1/2" swivel adapter not an entire set. It was heavily, heavily used. It eventually got sloppy and would bind at higher angles. The tangs were so worn and were starting to flake. I agree with you that I think they transfer torque better however. If I had a full set it would spread the wear over a bunch of sockets as opposed to just using the same swivel adapter all the time. When I originally tried some impact swivel sockets they were pin type el cheapos. They felt "gritty" and the extra collar retaining the pin was so bulky I couldnt see owning them. I couldnt believe how good the snap on swivels feel being a pin design, even new out of the box they feel good. They aren't the most compact that's for sure though.

Thanks for the reply! If they were the mac pinless, I would 100% agree with you. They are hot garbage lol. The matco pinless are freaking amazing though!!

The thing I don't understand is why people would spend thousands of dollars for a metal Box. US general does the same thing. Those companies like Snap On, MAC, Matco, Cornwell, are taking advantage of the poor and needy. All you need is a Snap On or a Mac sticker and put it on your US General box and Wala you got a bonifide Snap On Box.

I agree. The box doesnt make you any money. The tools only make you money if you know how to use them. One of the best mechanics I ever worked with had the most mis matched cheap tools ive ever seen and he is an animal in all disciplines of automotive and diesel.

Home mechanic? I've always assumed the day job involved some form or mechanicism (not a word, but hey). Now I'm very curious as to what the day job is.

For the last 10 years or so Ive been in manufacturing as an engineer. So I do "work with" equipment, but I am not the guy fixing the equipment. My days are more spent doing troubleshooting and paperwork. Its super boring. The good side is that its not that hard on my body. Mostly airconditioned buildings, not super physically demanding. I get to enjoy my hobbies while only being mentally exhausted and not physically exhausted lol. I was an auto mechanic for a short time before that and I still do that kind of work to make money on the side.

I will say the drawer slide issue you mention, my series 1 3 bank does the same thing and it has only become worse. Still plenty usable but sometimes you really need to pull on it.
@spankranchgarage
@spankranchgarage Ай бұрын
Great love to hear it only gets worse! Lol
@Kaffeetanne
@Kaffeetanne Ай бұрын
That's because the slides are barely lubed and the whit of factory grease they put in there is some nasty stuff that will gum up, thus making it harder to pull the drawers over time. To fix this problem take the drawers out, wipe of the old stuff and put new grease on the slides. I personally use Super Lube, but any light grease will do the job. Just keep in mind it only needs a thin coat, don't smear it everywhere. And be careful, those slides have some sharp edges, i cut my finger while doing this. -__-
