Nice! I enjoyed the video thoroughly, it's been very interesting to see what the enemy wore. Greetings from Spain!

the civil war sack coat had 4 buttons not 5

Nice collection. However there were slight changes made to the Uniforms from the Civil war style. The sack of the Civil war would had been closed by 4 buttons not 5. There were no sleeve buttons. The post Civil war trousers would of had a rear pocket. It also would of been adjusted in the rear with a attached cloth belt an buckle. The Civil war version did not have a rear pocket and was adjusted with a string. Infantry strips and chevrons during the Civil war would of been dark blue. Great video. 👍🇺🇸

Is there anyway of finding out about the regimental markings on the canteen
@ClancyWoodard-yw6tg2 ай бұрын
You know, that's something I've never noticed about the Spanish-American war uniform. Was it does look like the uniform the union army wore just with different things like the gaters a stuff like that
@luislaplume826125 күн бұрын
True! The infantry cap was a short height type of a railroad conductor but with the regiment number and infantry letter. My late grandfather who was my late mother's father witnessed the Spanish American War of 1898 and it was the last War that the U.S. Army still had 2 tone blue uniforms, dark blue blouse and light blue pants.with trimmings of light blue for infantry, yellow for cavalry and red for artillery.

During the U.S. Civil war regimental markings were only applied to the knapsacks in the early years probably when the unit was mustering in. These markings disappear later on. I do not know of these same markings applied to the canteen unless the soldier did it themselves. Some did mark their canteens post war as veterans. 😊

Great video, from memory didnt the Spanish/america war start with the explosion and sinking of the uss maine in havana ..harbour?. Good use of genuine, substitute and slightly later kit. I have heard of the rifle.....i might of seen it on 'forgotten weapons'...maybe, cheers and all the best 😊😊😊
@militarymad28406 ай бұрын
It did indeed start with the sinking of the Maine it was claimed at the time it was from a mine set off by the Spanish but quite recently with modern technology they have found it could have been an accident in the magazine of the ship

As an American, thank you for sharing this. Also is your krag rifle deactivated or still able to fire?
@militarymad28406 ай бұрын
I'm afraid it's deactivated the gun laws here are pretty strict and the price of US made ones are too much for me so had to make do with this Norwegian made model which are a fraction of the price, I never knew much about the Span Am War till recently it's very interesting managed to find some good books on the subject and KZbin have some good videos.
