The $300 million tag is too high, and the program will only produce a few valuable planes before it is cancelled. The US has a great way of producing high-end planes that can do everything but be effective fighter aircraft. The F-22 was cancelled because the program could not produce reliable and easy-to-maintain aircraft. The F-35 was the same, and the latest Government Accountability Office report showed that 70% of the F-35s were not combat-ready. The Russian and Chinese aircraft are better because their performance is nearly the same but you can build more units per dollar spent.
