Honesty to on, I would have gone for an hour's nap before the food or the ammo. When you get back to a secure area after a high activity deployment, you really crash. I've seen a whole company of troops oversleep for half a day after a week's worth of exercises, no one could keep awake, not even the officers.

@@wakcedout Yeah but the post-adrenaline crash can hit hard once you are back behind your own lines. It's a movie so they go heavy on the ra-ra drama. If it was real life, I suspect they'd lights out for half a day before they can do anything else. High intensity fighting is tiring.

To the point that my parents and other parents were all told we might crash on them when we had our family time after basic. And in this scenario there will absolutely be those who go hard and keep going, to the point some will have to be ordered to get rest. So it really isn’t that far fetched.

Love the movie, but that final scene where Nance turns-down a hot breakfast was a bit over the top. Soldiers don't perform well when they're exhausted (understatement) and haven't eaten in hours. After what the team has been through, the FIRST thing they need is a good meal. Can't turn that down bro.

I think the Marines would dispute that a bit. Master Chief is technically part of the UNSC Navy. And while the Marines are as well (subgroup), there is a difference as any Marine will tell you. Also, Marines don't need a rescue, just resupply. So unless Master Chief is bringing bullets and crayons I don't think the Marines want him taking the glory.

I saw this film a long time ago so I don't really remember but where is the air force and navy? The US has the largest air force and navy in the world. In this situation, they would've fired a missiles from their ships and planes. They also have ICBMs literally everywhere in the country.

Dont know about the air force, but the navy gets hit hard in one of the first scenes while forming a blockade or investigating the objects that fall in the water. So they basically get knocked out of the fight right at the start.

The Air Force gets likewise devastated, the marine squad’s original mission was to search for civilians and get them out of the red zone of a planned bombing campaign of Los Angeles since it was overrun. The scheduled time for the bombing mission passes without any planes appearing in the sky, and they later go to the Air Force base and find it totally neutralized by the aliens.

... that's actually a tactic you know lol. They call it the last 100 yards where you charge the enemy but in real life, it happens after a huge artillery barrage to stun the enemy, so you charge them before they shake off the concussion from the explosions. The stupid part comes in earlier at 2:13-2:15 where everyone just stands up and jump around cheering when there is still enemy infantry around lol.
