On my 2nd tour to Iraq, our company had six soldiers who were Stop Lossed(back door draft) serve with us. They were disgruntled, hard to get along with, & insubordinate because they did not want to be there. One guy said he had been "recalled" to service 4 times! This was his 5th tour to Iraq. So I say no to the draft because it causes trouble with those who have volunteered to serve.

I'm a Vietnam era vet, first drafted in 1968. I reenlisted for an additional year in order to get the schooling of my choice instead of going into the default eleven bravo, army infantry. I made the best of it, took advantage of great veterans' benefits (still getting them to this day) after ETS and never regretted having served. But, knowing where I came from and the era of that war, burning draft cards, jumping borders, smoking weird shit to stain one's lungs in an effort to avoid service, and other phony baloney ruses, it caused me think long and hard on the subject of the military draft. And somewhere along the way, it struck me, that there is a better way to avoidance. It is all about compliance, when in the final act before becoming bound into service, is the oath of office. One cannot be forced into an oath against their will. It comes down to the first amendment right of free speech. That right also encompasses the right of free silence. Now, I'm not against the military service or the draft for that matter. But for various reasons many would rather not serve and that's ok too.

Former Army Recruiter here: Back when I voluntarily joined the Army, there were 2 wars going on and I knew what it meant to sign that contract. Wrote my will multiple times from age 26 to 31. Was handed my own body bag upon arrival in the Middle East. Anyways, I am against this draft. We should have a 100% voluntary, fit to fight military force. I went to Afghan, in Afghan I received a severe TBI. Afterwards, I received no school, no medical care, and I’ve been fighting the Veterans Affairs for 11 years. Even if a draft went through, I will not allow any of my family members to go. I’ll take the blame for my portion, but the Marine Corps demands everyone is held at the same standards. They even say, if you fail, your chain of command failed you.. so I’ll take my portion of the blame..

My son is 22 about to be 23, and this his last year in the military and just got back in the states from overseas from an injury station at Fort Liberty, medical for therapy and his finger is messed up! And if we have to leave this country then that what it's going to take. There's no way, my son going to continue in this evil man's war and this is his last year in November.
