There are two options, for the surface drone attack, if the video of Sevastopol was correct, I think. The first is that the explosion was directed poorly, and the ship had its bell rung, but was otherwise whole. The second is that there was a small tear at the water line, but the ship was able to close the hold to where the ship was leaking, and pump itself clear until it made port. I think the second, because it looks, to me, like the ship is low in the water on the port side. Such damage probably could be fixed in a few days. Of course, if the video is fake, it might have simply sunk, and the sister ship was seen, or an older video was used. Your video is the first time I saw the helicopter running defense for the ship, that's an interesting addition, and something I'm sure mission planners and designers will take into account.

Just an idea. Maybe some of these marine drones can be equipped with a couple of small missiles (anti-ship?) , and while the exploding drones approach the target, the others would launch the missiles. Don't know how practical this would be to do?
@Nick_SlavaUkraini
@Nick_SlavaUkraini 9 ай бұрын
I have zero military training or experience but i would imagine it changes completely because now the boat has to have a system to launch the torpedoes. It also has to be launched by someone, so it now will relay signals and identifiers. You then have to equip and stock those torpedoes which complicates things and the boat loses its biggest feature; the ease of production and minimal materials required to produce something that takes out hundreds of millions++ of dollars worth of Russian warships/boats. I feel like the boat is basically a torpedo already but that would be awesome to have that also haha. Cheers m8.

@@Nick_SlavaUkraini Hi. Thanks for your reply. I understand your point. But the drone is already under remote-control (I assume ?) ie, it has been guided to its position by remote control. The hard part has been achieved. So, the clever Ukrainians who developed this effective weapon may like to consider working out a way to incorporate a missile into some of them., even if it just confuses the enemy and distracts them from the other drones, it may make a hit of the target more likely. I have little military experience too, but it was just a thought I had that may be of use.

i would imagine control is a issue when you have the curve of the earth and line of sight issues just a guess and more to the point if they are armed with nukes and you lose one it could end in tears , theres a lot of cons a swell as pros for remote subs , its stealthy anyway so a crew is propably easier to man it and as logic as anything remote controle ... . unless its suicidal mayby worth it but its a lot of buck to just let off on its own ..imagine losing comtact with a nucear drone sub .... am general we have a problem

@@colinobrien3806 These things can sink as well no? And they were even talking about autonomous so I guess that it should be possible to guide them through satellite. A sub is less likely to sink I'd think since it can't be shot so easily. And I was assuming these things were all suicidal. But I was just riffing a bit. Nuces should just sit where they sit anyway. They are just strategic.

Wouldn't it be spiffy if the Ukrainian marine drones had sonar and depth charges. Even better would be the ability to deploy bottom dwelling smart homing torpedos.....just waiting for a Russian ship prop signature...including subs. Another good innovation would be an underwater flap toward the front of the drone that would allow it to jump the harbor nets. Jaga jaga.

I watched a documentary today that said that China's 65 Billion dollar Road project the length of Pakistan to a southern port linking with China was to give China access there to the Indian Ocean thereby not needing the longer sea route through the Strait of Mallaca in Indonesia that could be blockaded by the West to contain China. That hypothetical blockade was the plan for containing China if needed.

If you look closely at that Ukrainian drone that was hit by fire, you will see what appears to be someone driving it.
