US PENN SENATOR free spool w Boca Bearings

Demos free spool of Penn US SENATOR 113 reel after upgrading 3 of 6 bearings with a Boca Bearing set.

Good thing you didn't do the big cast, you might spool yourself. Great Video, I just received a 114 H2LW Senator with no line on your lucky for one rotation. I'm sending it back and getting US 113 W. Thirty seconds is better than 1 rotation. It's been 2 days no response from penn. The tackle place had no answers about the spool only making 1 revolution, I wasn't sure if this is what to expect because it is basically made for trolling. It does have the free spool notation on 113W, no mention on the 114H2Lw. Very similar line capacity but the US Senator is 17oz lighter. Your video was exactly what I needed to see. Thank You

I have the old baja 113n let me tell you that’s a beast of a reel with a punch I should replace the bearings I hear a good wine when casting most people in Hawaii buy them all for special fishing applications

wow, very big difference. I was very skeptical about the claim. Curious of the actual bearing quality. Penn has never let me down over the past 50-mumble years. But hmmmmm, might be nice. Not as young as my brain thinks I am and any advantage for casting I can get it worth it! :D

what are the three bearings for the Penn US Senator? the website is very confusing

Actually the US SENATOR 113 has six SS shielded bearings ... the bearing set from Boca Bearing only replaces 3 of those if memory serves ... still leaving a total of six bearings

Parts are getting hard and expensive I always get part reels and put them in a box I have about 50

The bearings you are using are made in China. Boca does not make bearings. The new Penn you are showing has a totally different spool design. The is no friction on the pinion gear like the older ones.

I was not aware that Boca Bearing does not manufacture the bearings, thank you for straightening me out on that, Mr. Rawson. But I was aware of Penn's new live spool design, and I immediately observed the improved free spool soon after opening the box. Soon after, I replaced Penn's standard bearings with high performance Boca Bearings, and the further improvement was dramatic, as the video shows. The reel wouldn't do that out of the box. I can actually cast with this reel now. I use it Kayak fishing too. Thanks again.
