I have a album of Revenue stamps. Have one with a nice cancellation from a courthouse from New Orleans. They are beautiful stamps to collect.. My collection also goes into Tobacco and Alcohol stamps and some Motor Vehicle Tax stamps..

Fascinating! It feels to me the products are all over the place. Why were these products taxed and not all other manufactured products? Thanks for an interesting video.

That is an excellent question! I suspect they were seen as either common or luxury goods and so ripe for taxing. I will follow up with Steve and see if he has any ideas why.

I love revenues ... even worldwide revenues. People called them weeds ... thanks to those snobs I am able to get them ;) Personally, I would love to get a collection started of these :)

i love this all old US revenue stamps /// because exist sooo much different style and designes!!! ... and this stamps not standart ... becaus when i se other collector US stamp collection in album THIS ALL COLLECTION ARE SIMILAR !!! ... but if you collect so revenue stamps , your collection be unique
