Next 6 to 8 weeks
More than half of people in Europe could be infected
Hans Kluge, director for Europe
a new west-to-east tidal wave sweeping across the region
The region saw over seven million cases of Covid-19 in the first week of 2022,
more than doubling over a two-week period
26 countries, more than 1 % being infected per week
Boosters, play an essential role in protecting the most vulnerable people from severe disease
Also for health workers, teachers
Lower vaccination rates
Balkans and Eastern Europe
For countries not yet hit with the omicron surge, there is a closing window to act now and plan for contingencies
France, Prime Minister Jean Castex
If we were to shut down classes as soon as there is one first case,
bearing in mind the explosion of Omicron,
all French schools would be closed in a matter of days
Catherine Smallwood, W.H.O. senior emergencies officer
Some sense of predictability needed to move from pandemic to endemic
We are still ways off
We still have a huge amount of uncertainty

One of the biggest things I thank this channel for is knowing that I needed to up my Vitamin D dosage from 1,000 to 4,000 a day, along with adding Vit-K to the mix. I am a night worker and inherently don't get a lot of Sun, and if I didn't find this channel, I never would have known about this obvious and easy way to help protect myself. As every other comment seems to say, thank-you Dr. Campbell.

When you compare vaccinated vs unvaccinated cases, you should acknowledge that there is a higher proportion of vaccinated in the older age groups >40 which tend to have lower cases in general due to less exposure. This representation was consistent before the vaccines were available. Older people were under represented in cases, but over represented in hospitalisation and mortality

I live in pheonix. Went to hospital for dislocated shoulder on Monday. Was placed in hallway with multitude of people. Took hours to be admitted. Saw some one get ventilated right next time. You are expressing exactly the craziness of it all. Our hospitals don't even know how to deal with an infectious disease! They should not be placing people all in the same waiting room packed in like sardines. We went to the hospital multiple times for ultrasounds and tests for my pregnant wife last year. They had everyone file through and wait in the same waiting room and everyone had to check in with the same pen and counter area and you know what I didn't see...sterilizing, wiping surfaces or pens of any kind. They made dang sure you had a mask on but never bothered to actually put in effort to sterilize things. To me it just seems like another round of security theater just like the TSA mostly is.

I don't want to downplay the hospitalizations, but the key word is "with" as opposed to "because." There are many reports where 30-60% of admitted patients (depending on the report) are incidentally COVID-positive, meaning they are admitted for other reasons and test positive for COVID. Massachusetts General admits their state's numbers includes both truly sick from COVID and those incidentally infected.

Thank you for these excellent videos. I work as a registered nurse in an Emergency Department in Minneapolis and we see a large number of hospitalizations of people WITH Covid, but a smaller number of patients who are hospitalized FOR Covid. We are having issues sending patients to Inpatient Psychiatric units because they will test positive for Covid. Because inpatient psych units are an open milieu, a patient with an active infection may not be admitted to that unit. This means that those patients must either be sent home (difficult to do with a floridly psychotic or actively suicidal patient) or admitted to a medicine unit in isolation. Unfortunately admitting a psychiatric patient to a medicine unit results in said patient requiring a staff member to be present at all times. This only aggravates our ongoing staffing issue.

I think the reason there was such a large difference in vaccinated vs unvaccinated cases in CA is because it looked like that chart was 12/26 data and for the most part, Omicron hadn't made it to California yet. From watching the case increases, it seemed to start east/midwest and spread west.

Be careful when using the US hospitalization count as a judging factor. Hospitalizations can be either "inpatient" or "outpatient" hospitalizations, and those are two VERY different cases. Here in Ohio, the state is experiencing slightly higher hospitalization numbers than several months ago, but much less rates than this time last year. Bed capacity in all cases is still around 80% total, 20% COVID, where it has sat for all of the year. The vast majority of the problem at least in Ohio hospitals is staffing, not beds - I would assume it's that way across the US.
@gatewaytobeing
@gatewaytobeing 2 жыл бұрын
I'm 90% sure that it's only considered a "hospitalization" if the patient is admitted to a ward. Otherwise, it's simply an ER visit. If I go in with a broken bone, get x-rays and a cast, and am sent home a few hours later, that is not a hospitalization. At least that's always been my understanding. Stay well!

@@gatewaytobeing An outpatient hospitalization is an admission, but then a discharge within a certain number of hours (less than 24). That's the reason it's classified as "outpatient". My point is that an outpatient hospitalization does not represent a 24 hour full bed. You can have several outpatient admissions per day that occupied the same bed. I was one. The ER needed their negative-pressure COVID room so I was admitted to the main hospital and left 6 hours later. I was an outpatient hospitalization. It's happening often.

With respect to a lot of Insurance carriers, at least in MA one has to be admitted & in for 24 hrs to be designated as “hospitalized” . Sometime ( like me in Nov w/COVID) had overnight hospitalization in ER. But it’s certainly possible different states define terms differently. There’s been so much funny business citing # of cases with deaths making that statement is a subliminal link, when there’s no risk stratification in terms of age/co-morbidities. Had that been done we would have received an honest, realistic picture

In Serbia the nurse told us that one should never aspirate vaccines, she said that she had given tens of thousands of vaccines, and never aspirated. Dear Maja, I’m a nurse (in USA). I’m so sorry that you and your husband received such treatment by the nurses refusing to aspirate , and that it’s even a policy there not to. I had to ask the medical assistant to aspirate when I got my third shot (booster). She was very nice and said nobody ever had asked her to aspirate but that she knew how, so she gladly did so (with my first two shots I didn’t pay attention because I wasn’t aware that aspirating wasn’t being required anymore since I’m retired). Even though aspirating is a good practice, the chances that you and your husband were harmed is extremely low. In all my career as a nurse I gave thousands of shots and never drew blood back when I aspirated; it can happen but it’s rare. Since you apparently have no choice I just want you both to not worry. My heart and prayers are with you, as they are with everyone in these hard times.🙏❤️🌟

For instance if you use the media to convince the population they will die unless they take an experimental drug with hidden ingredients. You will find that even though those people who take the drug and get ill or lose loved ones to it they will still endorse the drug. For instance a family recently lost a father after he had received his booster. He was fully vaccinated, had his booster and caught Covid and died. I just got over Covid. I'm 61 years old. I'm not vaccinated. I was very week and bedridden for about 4 days and then on and off for the rest of the two weeks I was sick. For the last year I took 5000iu's of vitamin D and 200mcg of K2. Over the last year I also stopped eating all inflammatory foods. No bread, no grains, no legumes and no alcohol. I think I had delta because I was really wiped out. Some friends of mine had a much easier time so i think they had omicron. I never had trouble breathing. I had a headache, fatigue and coughing. All of my coughing was productive. No dry coughs. My sense of taste and smell was on and off but mainly on. I think the vitamin D and my diet saved my butt based on what I've learned from this channel and others. There you go for what its worth. Get healthy and this is not the kiss of death..

As a public transit worker, I appreciate the unbiased breakdown of actual data and the rational discussion. I am triple vaxxed and have never been suspiciously symptomatic or knowingly infected. We are experiencing many staff shortages and cutting service too but that seems mostly due to isolation requirements rather than confirmed infections or sickness. Testing is more or less impractical at this point in my country Canada. Everyone who has gotten covid has recovered just fine. I'm far more concerned with the social, mental, and economic problems that have been caused by our poorly planned and executed containment measures rather than the virus itself at this point. We need to work hard to lift each other back up and repair the collateral damage that has been done.

I take the covid case comparison rates with a grain of salt, because in California if you are unvaccinated you are required to test to go to work or basically anywhere, so more of the unvaccinated cases are detected. @@bryguy8203 Well that's not completely accurate; both groups produce comparable viral loads, but fully vaccinated individuals remain contagious for 1/3 as long. But undoubtedly as Jazmine pointed out above, some of the data can be explained by the sampling bias due to California's mandate that unvaxxed people get tested regularly to work. I'm sure there's lots of vaccinated people popping positive but not being tested (or are unable to get tested), and as such are not contributing to the statistics. I wonder about the efficacy of the test-to-work policy from a public health measure (rather than a punitive measure against people who refuse the vaccine), because if vaccinated individuals are infected/contagious/presenting no or mild symptoms, how would you prevent them from going to work and spreading disease, if they're not required to be tested by your work and self-testing is almost completely unavailable?

Under ordinary circumstances (ie not a pandemic) I'm sure most people would want to see more and longer term studies. We didn't have that luxury. And given that we are now seeing severe symptoms, hospitalizations, and deaths dramatically higher among the unvaccinated... that seems to be reason enough to get a vaccine, imo. I'm over 50 and have a chronic issue that makes me higher risk for sever symptoms with COVID. I was happy to have the vaccine. Also at this point, we have hundreds of millions of people around the globe who've taken one of the many vaccines. I don't think any study would involved as many people under as many conditions or run as long. So that's suggests there aren't major issues with any of the vaccines.

Christine Lee made her way into parliament.I wonder how many photos she has of parties.I keep taking vitamin d and a multi vitamin and an Asprin every day. Also honey and lemon every day.I am not advertising .Been double vaccinated and booster.Wear a mask in street and confined spaces it's - 3 Deg cent in morning. So stopping cold air going in my mouth. If it makes sense let me know.

Dr. John, your videos have helped me to convince my family members to get vaccinated and boosted. I live in the Midwest in the US. I have friends who work at hospitals around the area who say this is the worst it's been. Anything I can do to make their lives a little easier, I will. Thank you for all the hard work you do.

'No jab, No job'. I'm very pleased to see that a very high percentage of frontline nurses and doctors are standing up against this tyranny and refusing these jabs. Of course there are still many who are spinning the roulette wheel and taking the jabs despite the health risks associated with the jabs and their moral obligation to speak up against this fraud. Below is an example of a nurse of 50 years speaking with Nigel Farage..outlining why she is leaving the nursing profession: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGapmGRvi9aFeNU

It's not tyranny, it's the duty of medical staff, first responders, etc, to protect the health of those they have sworn to serve and protect by being vaccinated.

@@ernestmac13 If you need a booster after being fully vaxxed, still get tested after being fully vaxxed, still wear a mask after being fully vaxxed, and still get hospitalized after being fully vaxxed..... It's probably high time you admitted that you've been fully conned.

@@ernestmac13What part of “still catch & still spread” don’t you understand? It doesn’t protect from Omicron. It protects Pharma income and reduces the population.

@@ernestmac13 Historically, being vaccinated protected staff from the high risk situations they were working in. Any benefit to the patient was secondary.
