Attesting to the positive impact of federal environmental awareness, the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA) noted that the “Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) has provided industry stability and growth since its initial passage in 2006. In the last decade, solar has experienced an average annual growth rate of 50 percent.”
Nicki Zvik, founder of Green Solar Technologies, a solar panel distribution company headquartered in southern California, states, “With the solar industry growing at such exponential rates, it seems that the U.S. is on track to switch its fossil fuel dependence to renewables like solar over time.”
The SEIA also apprised that, in 2018 alone, the United States increased solar PV capacity by 10.6 GW which was added to the previous total of 53.8 GW. The current total of 64.2 GW is able to power 12.3 million homes, and “U.S. PV capacity is expected to more than double over the next five years - by 2024, more than 15 GW of PV capacity will be installed annually.”

But with the solar industry’s impressive growth, utility companies are producing more energy from solar and are consequently less inclined to offer incentives to homes and businesses to install solar panel systems.
