Wish my old Avalon insert had the airwash that one does ! But I have about 27' of stainless liner on top of it and I bet I do not get much over a half gallon when I clean it after burning all winter. But I am very fussy and use the thermometer to make sure I am getting the maximum clean burn .

I've had mine about 4 years and it hardly drafts at all, this after brushing and cleaning the vent pipe and screen at top of pipe. The only way I can get it to draft at all is to pull the ash pan cover and pull the ash pan open a little. I even installed a draft tube and it still won't draft . Will have to replace next year which sucks because it wasn't cheap
@Woodstock713 Жыл бұрын
Mine is 2 years old and not drafting either. What did you figure out?
@chadcraft2884 Жыл бұрын
@@Woodstock713 I drilled holes in the back draft tube and made a sliding plate over them to regulate the air through those new holes. I replaced the shitty fiberglass heat block on top ( their banking on you paying and outrageous price for its replacement knowing how fragile it is ) ... this helped a lot I also installed a new air intake vent from outside ( which didn't help at all ) the best thing to do is to partially pull up the ash plug from the bottom of the stove ... this helped the most, just don't go to bed with it like that since it can get real hot. keep a temp gauge on the stove to monitor the heat, and install a baffle in the pipe directly above the stove

Hi Jim, thanks for the comments. Could you please explain what you mean by "push the boards on your tubes all the way to the back? I'm not sure I follow, but I'm very much interested in fine-tuning the stove, and appreciate the advice of somebody who's had a chance to get used to it. Thanks again.

Hi there and thanks for sharing your video of your stove. I just got the model 2000 County Hearth from US Stove i traded a riding lawnmower for mine and mine is 3 months old, anyways i was wondering if you could tell me what that sealer stuff is called thats around your pipe connections ? It looks like a good thing to do around all the connections . Have a nice day ! I am heating a 600 square foot workshop with mine so it is rated for 2000 square feet so i think i might be pretty toasty working in there lol, might need some sunscreen and clam digger shorts lol

Do what i did and post an ad on Craigslist looking to trade ,I simply placed an ad looking to trade a riding mower for a wood stove with a glass door so i could see the fire, 4 people got a hold of me in a few days , i researched each stove and made the deal for this one because it is the most efficient one out there , so i traded a riding mower i got for free from Craigslist, it had a bad motor, so i bought a motor for 100, a brand new in the box snowplow for 75, wheel weights for 25 and tire chains that were new for 25 so for 225 and a little work i got $1000 worth of stove and all of its pipes , the guy bought the stove new and used it for 3 months in a mobile home, then he bought a house and it already had a fireplace but he needed a riding mower for his new big lawn, so he traded me even up and even delivered the stove n pipes and picked up his riding mower and now i will be warm and he can cut his lawn and plow his driveway. The kicker to this deal is the rider i got for free had a new bagging system on it that i removed off of it and its going on my Toro rider i am building for a lawn cutting business : ). My workshop is only 20 x 30 feet or 600 square feet and this stove is rated for 2000 so looks like next winter i wont have to wear a snowmobile suit to work in maybe a tank top flip flops and clam digger shorts and some sunscreen maybe LOL.

I had my fibre board on top of the tubes all the way to the front and cant wait to try it all the way to the back this winter. could you explain just what the difference is to the back or the front. thanks for the video.
@davidsheffield17692 жыл бұрын
The stove is designed to have the board pushed to the back. If you look at the secondary tubes, the holes are facing towards the front. So with the board to the back it forces the gases to travel across those secondary tubes, combining the gases with air, which is the combination you need to get your secondary burn. If the board is all the way to the front the gases never go across those tubes and just goes up your chimney. Some of those secondary gases condense on the way up and deposit on your chimney as creosote. So you'll get a more efficient burn and less creosote.

Would this stove be to big for a 600 sq ft drafty farm house? Cheers
@charlesatkins53883 жыл бұрын
In my opinion you can't really get too big but you for sure can get too small. Reasoning behind that is that you can control the size of fire and burn rate in the large stove down to accommodate the small house size but if you get a stove that is too small you cannot get a larger fire out if it to accommodate a larger space.

+steve fuson You may have a metal plate on the top of your stove that may not be in place properly. If you put a lot of wood in your stove, sometimes the wood pushes the plate back closing off the vent. I've seen this in smaller wood stoves.

If you are thinking of buying this stove, Don't the company has terrible customer service. My stove was missing the rod and knob to adjust the damper. I contacted Us Stoves and after being transferrer to 4 people they transferred me back tot he first person that then hung up on me. I called back and finally talked to someone who agreed to send out the parts. They asked for the invoice and i sent it to them. They then emailed me back and said they could not send out the parts until I sent them the serial number. I emailed them the serial number , I have not hear from them since. It has been months and all further emails go ignored. I have opened a case with BBB However I don't think this will get resolved. I have continually burned myself reaching under the drawer underneath to adjust the damper manually.

Good video...Im trying to understand chimney fires and how often they happen with a closed door wood burner. My thinking is chimney fires need an ample supply of oxygen to happen...With the closed door and damper closed I cant see a chimney fire happening.....If they do happen it probably is more of a dripping flaming creosote falling down the chimney but not much of a danger once it is burned off...Any ideas about chimney fires...
@brianthompson10455 жыл бұрын
c dawg creosote builds up from using wet wood at low flue temperatures combined with a poor draft. As smoke rises in the flue it cools and condenses and runs down the inside of the flue coating it with creosote. Typically when the fire is choked off to allow longer burn times at low temperatures. Then later when you have a hot fire it ignites the creosote causing a chimney fire. The answer is dry wood, a good draft, and proper flue temperatures.

Helen Miller Hi Helen, I bet you’re not getting to secondary burn. You should see little flames coming out of the pipes at the top of the stove. When she get to there it should be putting out a lot of heat. Leave The air supply(small handle underneath the front lip) wide open until the stuff gets real hot then close down the air about halfway or so. It should be hot enough to catch would on fire that sitting on top of it. Then get yourself a blower fan (Stanley makes a good one ) blows across the top and put out a ton of heat.
