I wish we had the option of getting "English style" French fries. Only 3 ingredients...that would be fantastic!!! Offset the damage of some of the other poison they're feeding us!
@The_hot_blue_fire_guy Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t call them “English style” because I’m pretty sure that the only country that puts that many ingredients in LITERAL FRIES!! Is good old America. Like seriously. It’s fries! How can you possibly mess it up this badly?!? It’s a potato you cut into small sticks and fry them in oil drain and put salt on them then done! HOW.HARD.SHOULD.THAT.BE.TWO.DO!??! Maybe i could accept fries with pepper or chili powder or something like that but we don’t need to pour half a chemistry lab into the fries!! That is absolutely ridiculous and probably not safe for people to eat in the long term.

The McGriddles are *awesome*! Yes, scones can be dry and boring without cream, jam, etc. But southern style biscuits are a... platform, if you will, for other flavors. My personal weakness is biscuits with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. It's messy, not visually pretty, but an ultimate comfort food. Also, the shamrock shake is only a seasonal item, which is a shame - it's definitely the best flavor they have IMO.

Here's the thing, American biscuits are not scones at all. They're an entirely different concoction you all don't have in England.
@michellecrutchfield87016 ай бұрын
That must explain it, cause as Richard talked about how boring they are, I'm looking like: WHAT the heck is he TALKING ABOUT?! A good southern buttermilk biscuit is AMAZING! He needs to revisit America... poor Richard. NO idea.... LOL!

yeah someone help him see this. U.S. Biscuits - if made RIGHT - are the most buttery fluffy bread, golden brown just out the outside. U.S. Cookies - sweet, chewy OR crunchy baked - classic would be the Chocolate Chip U.S. Scones - dense bread/pastry - semi sweet to very sweet, my favorite is a blueberry scone

Originally McDonald’s fries were cooked in Lard which is why they were the best-tasting fries ever. Then cholesterol became bad and people wanted vegetarian fries, so they replaced the lard with veggie oil(s). There was a big scandal in the 70’s iirc when it was discovered McD’s was using beef flavoring.

American biscuits are not quite like scones in the UK. Ours are softer and not nearly as dry. Think of them as the consistency of maybe a fluffy French pastry in the shape of scones. (Jolly channel on KZbin with UK residents Josh and Oliver explained how they differ for those of us on the other side of the pond--and UK students' reactions to them point to how much of a huge difference there is between ours and yours [the UK kids LOVE American biscuits].) Our biscuits can be served either with savory ingredients (for example, a white sausage gravy) OR with sweet ingredients (a lovely strawberry or raspberry jam), OR a combination (jam and butter). We don't necessarily think of them as dessert or an entrée, but they can be made into either. I've had scones here in the US and I just assumed that they were made wrong when they were super dry - but I guess that's indeed how they're properly made. Biscuits, properly made, here in the US will change your life. I've had a somewhat unconventional variety of our biscuits as well (about 30 years ago) and haven't had them since as I can't find them any more: blueberry biscuits.

It's called a "slow kill" here in the USA. High fructose corn syrup is in EVERYTHING here, which is ILLEGAL in other countries.

McGriddles, the whole sandwich, I tend to find too sweet... but I like ordering a sausage McGriddle and eating the sausage by itself and then the pancake buns by themselves. I honestly wish just the mcGriddle buns were a menu item though, I could eat 10 of those just by themselves they're so good.

Love, scones and American biscuits have absolutely nothing in common except wheat lol. Biscuits are flaky, light, buttery, and oh so comforting. Scones, on the other hand, are dry, hard, boring, bland and bear no resemblance to a biscuit. You just have to try one to understand the difference. However, to explain further, the reason is that the flour is different. Biscuit flour is made of soft wheat rather than strong wheat which is what makes them light and flaky. They are the perfect thing to go with savoury or sweet fillings. If you have a mum or grandmother who is excellent at baking, have her look for soft wheat flour in the supermarket, then find a recipe online and make you some.

A lot of American products are banned in the UK and Europe because they contain a lot of banned ingredients. They also have a lot more preservatives. In the UK bread lasts a week at most. In US IT CAN LAST UP TO A MONTH

The Canadian sizes are all the same as the American, too. Although, in Canada they have poutine, as most franchises in Canada do 😝 And that buttermilk chicken sandwich looks good, wish we had that here. Buttermilk isn't really a popular ingredient here, sadly.

As someone who worked in McDonald's through high-school and college in the UK, the US fries that have stuff in it to keep a colour, look like the UK fries when you bring them out the oil too early. Basically, they look undercooked

I only just had this in my feed, but here we go 😊...there are things that are only regional meaning not each and every McDonald's has them in the USA. It's a little goofy but that's how it is. Hope when you came to the US you tried some of the things you don't have in the UK. We could definitely go to the UK's portions and ingredients and be better off for it.
@ucrpoyntevents77475 ай бұрын
I reckon you've been told already, probably, but scones =/= US-style (typically buttermilk) biscuits. Instead of being firm and crumbly like a scone, biscuits are soft and fluffy. They're flavor is more like croissant than a scone, too; biscuits and scones are about the same density/consistency compare to the airy/flaky quality of croissant

Biscuits and Scones are two different products. Not even close in taste or texture. Also, US fries used to be fried in tallow and were delicious. Then, just like the fda food pyramid recommendations, they left the good behind to sicken the the population with their science projects.

McDonalds in the US actually got in trouble because of the beef flavoring of the french fries, which would make vegans puke by eating them because of the meat they would taste after not eating meat for so long and then realizing what the flavor was.

In Australia we have ice coffees at maccas plus the strawberry and caramel sundaes so the USA isn’t the only place for this. However they do have a lot that we don’t have and the amount of calories in their food is why America is the fattest and unhealthiest country in the world.
