USA Bandy, based in Minnesota, headed to Sweden for World Championship

Many consider the sport of bandy to be the precursor to hockey. The sport is quite popular in Europe and has a home here in Minnesota. USA Bandy is looking to make a name for itself in Sweden at the 2023 Bandy World Championship. FOX 9's Pierre Noujaim has the story.

"Many consider the sport of bandy to be the precursor to hockey".... Well, yes and no. But it definately is older. The first known match was played in north east of UK in 1643 during a series of really cold winters. They literally took their Field hockey gear, strapped on skates, and called the sport --> " Hockey On Ice". Icehockey as we know it, might have had its on trajectory of development in the US/Canada, maybe independent of the history of Bandy. But Bandy is for sure the original "Hockey on Ice".

They didn't mention Russian team couse they banned from all international tournaments (for know reason), but they still considered as the most titled bandy team.

в хоккее я мячом высокий уровень только у России и Швеции - с реально сильными внутренними чемпионатами. Следующий уровень Финляндия и Казахстан, но Финны способны кусать Швецию иногда, с Россией у них хуже дела обстоят . Казахстан - это прокси-российская команда, составленная из игроков российского Чемпионата, способная победить финнов, навязать плотную борьбу шведам иногда, но с Россией без шансов. Норвегия - США - это еще команды в исполнении которых хоккей с мячом еще похож на хоккей с мячом и сейчас они близки по уровню за счет того, что норвежцы просели в сравнении с 90-ми. На искусственном быстром льду им стало сложнее себя проявлять. Уровень остальных команд - это пародия на хоккей с мячом. Матчи Швеция vs Россия - это украшение этого вида спорта, как и матчи русских и шведских клубов.

Без противостояние Швеции и России и развитие клубной лиги - куда бы вошли шведские, российские, пара финских команд и возможно 1 команда из Норвегии хоккей с мячом рискует умереть и окончательно потерять интерес зрителей.
