I have also faced the same violence and mental torture. The maid was removed from the job by the inlaws the very next day just because I didn't carry any dowry with me. They had made no demand either but made me do all the work in the house. My husband didn't touch for first few months. God knows why. I left him after the incompatiblity . Yet gave him many chances but finally left everything and made my own career and got retired from my teaching job successfully.
