Great to see America 🇺🇸& India 🇮🇳 keeping the sport of wrestling alive & well. Both India & USA have fantastic wrestling and both have a strong cultural connection to wrestling. I know India has its own form of wrestling as well as competing internationally in freestyle, same in America, we have Folk style wrestling but transition to freestyle internationally. Great to see these young guys giving each other good work that will benefit the athletes.

I think the American guy in the red loin cloth is Hunter Lewis. His slow, total domination of the Indian is superb. It was like a predator capturing and playing with a prey. I think he enjoyed doing it in front of his team mates.

And the fact that these americans are not older than 17-18 and they also are not used to wrestling on mud. So on mat they would be like fire. Very explosive and agile. As wrestling on mud could make you strong but not fast as on mat u have to react fast and use speed to ur advantage and thus attack and defend more takedown with different techniques that on mud would not be possible.

The cultural aspect of Kushti or mud wrestling is very strong in India and the discipline is very much there but the athletic ability and the actual training in techniques have both remained stuck a few decades in the past. It's a shame that there is serious backing from government bodies for this sport to provide better infrastructure, nutrition and coaching to these athletes here. They mostly live hand to mouth and many of them leave home to go and train at the Akhara as way to lift themselves out of poverty. They live off a very basic and primitive vegetarian diet where the bulk of their intake is empty calories so for every part of protein they consume, they are invariably consuming 3 parts of additional carbs or fats that they don't need. There are no rehabilitation and restorative facilities to promote quick recovery and they only train in the same set techniques that are instructed to them by their gurus so a lot of the methods are quite out of date
