Ralph Lauren, one of America's top designers, presented an Autumn collection that recalled the golden days of Hollywood glamour. There were one-shoulder gowns in silver sequins and cashmere gowns with sequinned cardigans tied on the hip. Lauren also showed tailor, fitted jackets and full-cut pants in ivory, camel or charcoal flannel. He put them with tortoise shell sunglasses, faux fur coats and suede loafers to convey an image of contemporary Hollywood chic. Another designer, Anna Sui, went for the 60s modern look. Her collection ranged from beatnik to Jackie-O to ultra-mod. Models sauntered down the catwalk to Beatles' tunes. Anna Sui's eclectic mix of fabrics, including vinyl and patent leather, were finished off by vinyl boots reaching just below the
knee. One of her models was Luca, an Italian former homeless person plucked off the streets of New York who is now making a name for himself on the fashion show circuit. Despite his growing fame, Luca still prefers to live on the streets.
