Because US one of the most ‘immigrated’ to countries in the world so there is a constant bombardment of people wanting to come in or sneaking in. When you put your belongings in the plastic trays at the scanning machine, always count how many trays you have used, so that after scanning you can count them again to make sure you have collected all yours belongings. Also, collect your most important tray, which has your wallet, documents and keys, first. What happened to you happened to me also many years ago, but ever since I started to count the trays, that has not happened again. 2. The rude treatment you received at the Boston airport is not unusual or rare. It happens to almost all travellers who look obviously like foreigners. Keeping calm is the best thing one can do. Once they asked me to remove my shirt and T shirt also. But what can one expect from security men and police men who once strip searched a female Indian diplomat after arresting her. (I think her name was Devayani, the news of her strip search exploded like a bombshell in Indian news papers, but created barely a ripple in USA.)
