The women need a slightly smaller goal, simple as that. Until evolution poops out a batch of 6'4 women who are all somehow destined to be goalkeepers. The goal will likely always be a tad too large for a 5'4 woman to completely guard.

@@RyubearSaysGao You aren't wrong, but think about the ramifications; how patronizing would it be to bring out the "female goals", on top of the costs for clubs (and I'm talking entry level clubs, not the ones playing in major competitions) and the logistics of it all... I'm not saying the females aren't worth that cost, but it seems like a minor problem to 'fix' that'll only lead to lesser scorings and who doesn't love more goals in football? Except for the whiners who thought this team was "unsportsmanlike".

Delta V If they ever reduce the area of a goal for women I don’t think they have to change the entire thing, it would be easier to just implant “guards” like fiber glass boards about 1 foot wide on the inside of each post. Easy attachment and removal.

How in the hell did Chile have 32% possession when they usually coughed the ball back to the US after having the ball for less than 10 seconds throughout most of the match? They only made it to around 15 seconds of possession between 5 and 10 times. I don't remember any shot on goal. That match was total domination by the US. The US needs to be more goal dangerous when we are holding the ball around the top of the 18. We were one dimensional in trying to have Pugh or Press cross the ball inside most of the time. Chile is lucky that that match wasn't 10-0. The subs who got to play tonight will likely not play in another match during this World Cup. Our mostly B team kicked their asses.

@@chrisfabian2894 firstly, it wasnt meant to be witty. its meant to be factual. women goalkeepers are generally very poor. you get the odd one like hope solo who was actually decent. the saves in this video are fairly basic. secondly, im not a goalkeeper, but id have done far better than the hologram thailand fielded. as for the outfield players being more skillful, i can assure you i was far superior to any of them. i actually played at a decent level in the mens game. i wasnt pro, but i made it to a good level. ive watched some of this tournament, and its on a par with sunday league football. one or two individuals might make saturday amateur, but no higher. these usa women wouldnt cut it in scottish division 4.

The Chile goalkeeper is by far the best I have seen in women's football since Hope Solo. The lady from Canada is quite good too. It is actually the first WC where keepers are overall decent. So far I have seen 5 really good ones. That is really the one area in which women's football needs to improve. Seems that it is getting there. Well done!

US logical victory but the second goal should never have existed because on the previous action the ball was out and should have been returned to the Chilean. The penalty late in the game should have been a free kick because the fault was not in the penalty area (thankfully the penalty was stopped). Will really know what the US is worth in the next match against Sweden .....

The US couldn't care less about that game. They don't want to risk injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if they send in another experimental bench XI. They will meet France or Germany in the quarters so the Sweden game is largely irrelevant.

Por los comentarios que había escuchado, se suponía que Endler se había mandado un partidazo, pero se quedó parada en el 1er y 3er gol, mientras que en el 2do tuvo una reacción floja en una pelota que le fue al cuerpo. En el segundo tiempo subió su nivel, pero, sumando y restando, un partido regular no más de la portera chilena.

Absolutamente, el 2do gol saliendo de un corner claramente mal cobrado, un penal fuera del area aun con la revision del VAR y muchos errores tanto para Chile como para EE.UU... pesimo arbitraje

El primer gol es una falla técnica de la jigadora, q despeja con la cabeza hacia el centro del área, eso nunca se debe hacer, se despeja hacia los costados. El segundo gol nunca fue tiro de esquina el balón habia salido por la línea de fondo. El penal fuera de área La arbitro un bodrio☹
