Ilongos speak the Sweetest in the Philippines and maybe in the whole world. I worked in a hospital which accepts foreign medic students/ clerks, and they so enjoy listening and imitating.. Saying the ilongo language is so 'malambing" or " malulo" locally.

The cost of living in the US is going up and many Americans who are about to retire or are already retired are considering to move to countries where their dollar would go a long way. Some Eastern European countries as well as Central and South American countries are aware of that and are advertising like crazy to entice Americans to come and live in their countries. One foreigner who was a globe traveler said no matter how low the cost of living is in any country, if the people are not welcoming, he would not go back to that country. Thank you for your support and love for the Philippines.

Thanks guys for having Ed on here. Please make sure he sees this comment. I am a Navy Vet who served just jbefore the Vietnam War started. I was in college during the war. I am married to a Filipina and we moved back to the Philippines 4 years ago. I had traveled around the PI before we got married so knew a lot about the Country before we moved there. Our Daughter lives in Illolo and we had thought about living there. But we decided to look for a place near Tagyaytay due to the weather and the scenic beauty of the area. I also started a vlog, but I am much smaller channel. We are at a higher elevation and get strong winds from the S China Sea and the Batangas Straits, so it is pretty cool here year round. Before I left Austin, Tx, the VA there gave me a walker similar to the one you described. I just put up a new video that shows you around out property. Take a look at it if you want. There are some similiar areas.. For example Dumaguete wouldnt be so far away from Iloilo, there is a town next to it called Valencia in the hills, were A LOT of foreigners live, because of the good climate.. Maybe thats also an idea.

Tagaytay is very dangerous if you're having an asthma and allergy especially if the taal volcano is erupting and produces a lot of volcanic ash

Well I was a Vietnam Era Navy Veteran so was my Uncle! I don’t know how many times my Uncle had to spend in Vietnam. I was lucky my ship came back from the gun line. Glad he is still up! A bunch of the Vietnam veterans are dying from agent orange 🍊. Which is DDT it killed my dad. I hope the best for him.

Online shopping is killing the malls in the USA. In the Philippines the mall advantage is air conditioning. Electricity is so expensive and staying in a cooped up hot house just to save makes it intolerable. There is also online shopping in the Philippines but going out to watch a movie and eat in one of those mall restaurants is a great way to while the time away in a cool environment. It’s also fun to people watch. Cheers.

I buy stuff in Amazon every month sometimes weekly but I still go to Costco, Target, Walmart and petsmart for pet stuff. I haven’t been to a mall in a decade. Malls are closing where I live in California. Online shopping just overrun the shopping malls.

Yeah also a classic meeting place for filipinos.. Also the food courts there are much bigger.. The big online shopping boom has yet to come - they have Shopee and Lazada, but it is not as easy peasy like Amazon. But it will come

In a country that is full of religion, Fiestas are the best invention it made😁especially if you have a decent farm to sustain this annual celebration. Everybody is invited openly even from far flung towns of Iloilo city as long as you knew someone from that place. If this guy had no feast prepared for that fiesta, don't get disappointed because he'll bring you to his neighbors that had prepared well for this particular event and have your fill satisfied. It's like a buffet but you're moving not from table to table but from house to house to eat, so better have a strategy how to taste all the food offered. 😅

@@ladysnow8186 Yes this practice might had been observed even before the Spaniards arrived in Panay Island which of course attests to the agricultural prowess of this island. Fiestas just refined this event with regularity and specific dates set by the Spanish authorities for convenience. IMHO😀

I appreciate this video and of course Ed. I have been researching the Philippines as a potential part time home, if we could afford to travel back and forth each year, which I doubt. I have a partially disabled brother and an elderly mom that live with me. So what I want, for them, is a place with everything within walking distance. They can't drive anymore. In fact my brother is partially blind and so I'm a bit concerned about him walking around too. Iloilo does seem to have a good balance of what we want and need with also better sidewalks and less traffic than most other places this close in to town. My ideal situation would be to live in the US for all but the winter and go to PI for the colder months, since my family is sick of the cold and they really want to be some place sunny year round. This is the one way we could afford a winter retreat, but the airfare would likely be a deal breaker. I'm still looking at the PI as a plan B though, and if we take a trip to visit, who knows, maybe they would want to outright move there. I posted this in case anyone reading it might have other thoughts or suggestions to share that might help guide me in this journey. Thank you all. One last thing. To Ed, Thank you, and Welcome Home.

In Fort Lauderdale and Miami the malls are packed with people. I have not seen any closing.

That is great news, according to the stats "At the peak of mall shopping, there were around 2,500 malls in the US, but now there are only about 600 left"

I just wanted to point out (I did once before I think) that there is a nursing home for foreigners (but also some filipinos) in Iloilo, called "Mabuhaii Nursing Home" not far from the airport. I think it would be a popular vlog if you go and film there. Maybe Ed want to accompany you, I think he would be interested for later years. It has a focus on Alzheimer and Dementia but also general elder care

I lived in USA my whole life and never had a problem. I do not know why people exaggerate about how bad the USA is. They just want to claim they are having a bad time. To legitimize them living in the third world Philippines. It is not necessary. 😮

I lived in Pennsylvania and Florida. Never had a problem. People are friendly and help each other. This is all hype that people who move to the Phillipines. No need to bash the USA. If you want to live there good for you. No need to bash the USA. The USA helps peoples all over the world. We are a very generous and caring people. Currently I live in Fort Lauderdale. Retired and love it. I also have a hectar in Carmen Cebu. I have more problems with the so called friendly Filipinos than I ever had any problems in the USA. It is very difficult place to live in the Philippines. A dog in the USA is treated better than a poor person in the Philippines.

@@chalabiste8300 been to Pittsburgh, Erie and Meadville many times we have totally different experiences, provincial hospitals are free, no people sleeping on a sidewalks here no drugs being sold or used anywhere here. Clearly you have entirely different points if views so we will agree to disagree

@@BiancaBeyond you must be blind. In Cebu city there are people sleeping in the streets. The hospitals in the Philippines are not free. If you do not have money a person will die waiting in a hallway and receive no treatment. Then they will not release the body unless a family member will pay the bill. Nothing is free. Take off your rose colored glasses.
