Well, but we also can't ignore the hypocrisy of Europeans whenever discussing the US and its customs...Not ok for any show of national pride from Americans but "understandable" when Europeans do it. "It's ok because the flags are smaller!" Then the following clips are of entire crowds coordinated together to look like one gargantuan flag. Yeah, she was a little peeved about the hypocrisy in the 10 minutes that she was there with them watching this. We also just don't follow football/soccer here in the US and have very little to contribute to discussion about it.

The reason why they said this is because there are no national flags at all in league games in europe and only at international games which is what was showed in this video. But americans bring national flags to league games for whatever reason. I’m not judging it but it isn’t a thing in europe. Flags themselves are common in league games just not national flags

She said A) If it's two French teams, they bring the flags of their team, not the French flag, B) If it's an international game, they bring flags, but usually smaller and not as many, C) and she was only talking about France, not about Romania or anyone else. All of that was correct. All the examples that the American girl freaked out over didn't contradict with what the French girl said. There were much fewer flags. The flags were much smaller. She freaked out over club flags, even though the French girl very clearly said that people bring club flags. Romania isn't France. And fyi nobody said that anything isn't ok here.

@@JimmyJr630 No, we don't bring flags to standard sports matches. It would either have been a 4th of July sporting event or an international match. The girl was simply pointing out that after they'd said they don't wave their country's flags at games, that it would be a little weird, they went on to show multiple soccer events where the crowd indeed was waving it around. Europeans have been quite vocal about their criticism of national pride in the US, so we're used to responding with that it's truly no different than in many of your own countries - done primarily around specific events or holidays.

Girl representing the US was absolutely terrible in this video. Has literally zero knowledge about sports, gives off a rude demeanor and acts like she doesn't want to be there, and to top it all off, only complained about flags lol. To all the Europeans watching this, I'm from the US and can promise you not everyone from the US is like this. I for one think the soccer culture in Europe and South America is outstanding and would love to experience it someday. I wish I were there talking with these ladies about the sport instead of her!! I’m not entirely sure what they were trying to highlight as the differences. If I understood correctly, Europeans become belligerent when they’re watching a futbol game. Americans don’t care for soccer as much so they are just hype without the violence. I will also add that even with the most popular sport in America, football, Americans do not riot in the streets before or after the games. They actually do something called tailgate parties outside the stadiums hours before the games are set to start. And this is when they drink the most, since alcohol in stadiums is very expensive

It's not actually just USA that says "soccer". IIRC, at least USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and Japan do as well. Well, Japan's league says "football" but lots of people on the street say, "sakka" (which is just the Japanese pronunciation of "soccer".). And not everyone that doesn't say "soccer" says "football" or "futbol". For example, Italy says, "calcio".

Using US soccer to Compare to Europe is such a bad choice, in Europe Soccer is pretty much each country's only major sport. In the US you have NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, You also have all the NCAA sports, all of them are above Soccer in the US. NCAA Football in the south and NCAA hockey in the north are huge, in the State of Minnesota the High school hockey tournament trumps most prosports with people coming from all over the world to witness it. The US is spoiled for sports options and soccer has a mountain to climb in terms of popularity, it has been growing steadily over the last 25 years

You're right. Europeans are just fanatical soccer fans but Americans are bigger sports fans all around. For instance, I live in Metro Atlanta. On a typical October weekend I could attend a number of high school football game with 4000 passionate fans on Friday night, A college football game with 50,000 to 90,000 excited fans Saturday afternoon (depending on which university team I attend) , a professional soccer match with 40,000-50,000 fans Saturday night, a professional football game with 50,000 fans Sunday morning, a high stakes major league baseball game with over 40,000 fans on Sunday night, and a professional basketball game with likely around 15,000-20,000 fans on one of those days as well. No city in England is going to have that much going on outside of maybe London. And metro Atlanta doesn't have half the population of metro London. The highest paid English professional sports players outside of soccer make no where near as much as players in our second and third most popular sports. Not even close. If you look online there are way more Atlanta fan podcast shows, vlog videos etc than there are from any city in England. The matches in Europe are mostly just attended by men as well. Real sausage fest. In America the games are packed with men and lots of women and children. We just care more about sports than they do.,
