It's 2005, I was there as a participant. Lee Chang, Korea, who became a champ that time, is on the left side. Very powerful player with outstanding abilities, but not now (Dignity CZ is not considered to be a hard chart nowadays). USA also had to offer someone who is much more powerful than a guy on the video (who's a nice man) that year, and if you'll find RedViper's attempt (we see preliminaries here, so every player got to play that song), you'll see that he was a very serious competitor to asian and mexican players. By the way, he still plays kind of awesome by very high standards.

The American guy was playing on the right side, right? That surely explains a lot. The other day, a friend told me about this book on dancing machines culture on different countries and it says that Americans try to avoid taking advantage of certain stuff as much as possible, such as speed mods (DDR) or, as in here, feet for tripleing. Very technical, but never effective.
@qqquasar10 жыл бұрын
I do not exactly remember the name of the book, but it defines the whole dancing arcade scenes in both North America and Japan. My friend read the book and mentioned stuff like, for example, Americans consider mods (Speed, for example, or Solo/Note arrows in DDR) as cheating since they make the game easier to play. In this very case, Americans would consider bar holding as cheating (Although this is banned in standard tournaments) and also triple stepping with only the feet because it makes songs easier to pass. Americans would go the "logical," hard way and try to step triples with hands.
@Vospi10 жыл бұрын
well, that's just not true. american players love speemods, c-mods, playing with bar and so on not less and even more that any other advanced community (USA community is obviously VERY large and versatile).
@jynxthemalevolent9 жыл бұрын
Agreed with Vospi. Seeing as I am an american player myself and i'm around the community a LOT, american players favor playing with the bar and speedmods. Actually in this day and age you almost never see players playing without the bar and bar is allowed at tournaments out here. Your friend might have been talking about somewhere around the 1996 area when the game was still fresh because in those days the bar/no bar debate was still huge and in effect back then. Playing bar became huge once 10's had originally came around and perfect attacking took over as the main tournament standing instead of freestyle and has become the gold standard especially since the difficulty of songs increased exponentially since then. It eventually transferred over to other games such as ITG and PIU and now you see it pretty much no matter what dancing game you play.
@qqquasar9 жыл бұрын
Vospi I'm glad someone of your hierarchy took the time to reply to this comment. I finally found the book, it's "Counting Combos" by Aaron Chmielowiec, pages 67 to 71. Although the book describes the confrontation regarding very basic stuff, such as the original speed modifiers and the use of the bar, I think the mentality progresses to this point. Either way, I know it is kinda out of date... like this video. Uploaded in 2006, we're in 2015 now, and not even Andamiro punishes the players for using the bar in their tournaments. On a side note, why is not We Met Dat Night in any Pump It Up release?
@Vospi9 жыл бұрын
qqquasar Well, I know some people we could ask about that. :)

This is soo much better and harder compared to DDR b`cause that DDR's arrows are...pretty damn near to each other while pump it up has further space(not comparing with the middle button) between each other! ;D. and it also has a extra button ;P
