I am from Brazil and watching the Brazilian analysts they all said the same thing "Karch just knows how to game plan against Brazil". It was very clear that the US team went hard to shut down Gabi on her attacks, every time she was set there were 2 well positioned blockers on her. She only really scored freely running the cross with the MB slide and attacking from the middle, which was the only scenario that I assume the US team was not ready for. You can see that the USA was ready for the game, Rosamaria's deep cross was also ineffective and throughout all the match, these things kept mining Brazil's confidence and they could not recover. All the props to the US. Great game plan, great execution, great mental fortitude. I hope they beat Italy in the final. PS. littlethings8331 is right, even as a Brazilin I get annoyed by our fans... Sad, if we kept to our own team it would be the best ever.

Let me tell you something... Karch Kiraly is a VB LEGEND. In his prime, he was considered to be the best all-around men's vb player in the world. He was the starting OH (and captain) of BOTH Gold-medal winning teams in 1984 (Los Angeles) and 1988 (Seoul). He's only 6'2", which is short by men's standard, but, similar to Skinner, and Gabi, Karch could friggin JUMP and RIP the ball. He was also known for being ultra-skilled in EVERY facet of the game -- passing, blocking, serving, mental. And, he was a student and master of the game -- understanding it's complexities and nuances like no other. I learned volleyball by literally studying videotape of Karch and his teammates back in the 80's. I've heard so many Kiraly-haters too (usually because he wouldn't play their favorite players). So I'm glad Rob and Everett finally 'saw the light' and acknowledged that THIS GUY DESERVES YOUR RESPECT. He brought Larson back from the dead BECAUSE the USA had no reliable power-hitters who could end points -- which tells u something about the rest of the OH's (sorry Cook, and Larson, and others). They're fabulous players, but not dynamic/athletic/explosive enough to take the USA to the top. At this point, Plummer and Skinner are really neck-and-neck for #1 OH on the team. All through VNL's, and Qualifiers, and Olympic pool play, Karch tried as many combinations as he could, and gave as many girls a chance to play as he could, mixing up lineups all over the place. And by playoffs (Quarterfinals), he landed on EXACTLY the right choices. Karch, you're a VB guru, master and legend.

10 seconds in and Everett is already interrupting Rob to go on a huge rant that is entirely irrelevant to the volleyball match that just happened. If I wanted to watch people yell nonsense about sports I could go to the bar or turn on First Take. I watch you guys to hear you talk about volleyball, which you normally do very well, but for whatever reason Everett has been on one this Olympics, and it's made any segments about the US team completely unwatchable for me.

Congrats Team USA. Wasn’t really supporting either USA or Brazil but the Brazilian fans made me support team USA. They booed every time when US served which is completely disrespectful. You can cheer on your team any way you like but booing the other team like that shows no class. And they did that too in Rio quarterfinals against China. I’m glad both times China and USA sent them home. 🎉

Axtually Brazilian so good but they so full with emotional camt control the USA team

Anna Christina is not as talented as Avery Skinner that’s why they lost the match.

@@BoymanjusriSkinner is the match-up for Gabi, dude. She’s the passing OH, whilst Plummer is the scoring one. Comparing 36% spike efficiency of Ana Cristina to Plummer’s 31% is what you’re supposed to be doing.

I completely agree with y’all that USA women’s volleyball is falling after the Tokyo Olympic Games but they showed up at the quarterfinals and semifinals and I believe they are ready to take another gold, so proud of them 🎉

I've always admired that mentally tough attitude about the US team! Love it! ❤

Nothing great that has happened between the Olympic cycle? It’s pretty darn impressive to be beating legit teams these past years with players that didn’t even make the Olympics. Come Olympic time people still need to get used to the USA line up. I think they flew under the radar to scout the other teams who pretty much had to play their starting line up’s the entire time; therefore, providing enough scouting footage and game plan.

Is it possible that the USA will defeat Italy in the gold medal match after losing twice for them in the VNL? Well, Plummer and Poulter weren’t at the VNL finals but both of them are very well-known by the Italian players.

Team USA need to train in Japan for defences, they have strong offense but poor in net and floor defences, I think they need to focus and work hard in net and floor defences.
