Burt and Dick are great people. I have met both of them at Oshkosh and built Burt's Vari Eze long ago and its still flying.

Great story. Can't imagine being shot down, but he survived to fly non-stop around the world. Two great stories!

I calibrated the weapons system and radar for the F-4D at Ubon, Thailand, 1970-71. I heard many stories about how our pilots were denied authorization to drop ordinance on critical places in North Vietnam. There was no way the US government would let us win.

@@USAFmuseum He lived an incredible life. Though he will be missed he will never be forgotten. One of the greatest aviators that ever lived.
