Now, on a more serious note, As I watch the Cadets addressing the student, it occurred to me that if you look back at Y/T vids of the 1st. day at the USAF in 2011, the cadets doing the barking were the basic cadets who were sitting in those buses.

I chose the AFROTC route in college, still loving it. I went to Field Training this past summer. This was posted the day after I left for Field Training. Oh boy, brings back so many memories on the bus on TD 0.

I went the AFROTC route to. Did my field training at Tyndall AFB. The next year I was given the privilege to be a CTO and that was the most fun ever. We were much harsher and stringent then these Academy Rats. Good luck in obtaining your commission cadet and stay safe.

too funny - I remember our bus driving up to the "Bring Me Men" ramp and the cadre jumped on the bus and the party began. Walking the strips on the terrazzo - a lot of memories. Thanks.

+ink layer , walking? There was no walking for the class of '94. Just running the marble strips, in blues with our "terrazo tennis" . The only exception was right after meals. Also, unlike these more modern videos of life at USAFA, we couldn't carry our book bags on our shoulders either. Back in the brown shoe days...... :-)

Damn, as an enlisted, if I were to do the lead program, I'm very sure I would find their yelling more annoying than anything. I wouldn't talk back, I would comply, but I would get pretty pissed when they're yelling at me for not knowing something they mentioned once a few minutes ago. Even MTIs aren't that ridiculous, they make sure the rule is known, then they enforce it. Enforcing a rule without making sure it is known, I.E. yelling when someone doesn't know all the basic responses 2 minutes after it was mentioned once and not giving them the chance to let it sink in their heads is a sign of bad leadership. I know they're only following their predecessors example, but shock and awe isn't a good way to make sure something is known.

Well I think you did a good job. I worked at the cadet area during the in-processing for the class of 2014. It was really awkward hearing all the yelling and walking down the hall when they were forced to line up and wait and all they had to say Good Afternoon ma'am. Considering I was 18 at the time and had only been called ma'am back in ROTC.
