@@ozgecko4050 @ozgecko4050: Re your "Honestly the defence suggests politico owns them". Yep! Looks that way to me, too! Just a f'rexample- Robby: Buying a Politico Premium subscription is like buying a printer... Bad analogy! A printer is a physical item, it's hardware; a subscription to what is essentially "a news service" is not physical in the same sense - it is software. The word "premium" just indicates that is priced higher than normal - over-priced, expensive. ... and another f'rexample- Robby: 8 million is the TOTAL govt. tab from 2016. Almost 1 million USD per year! That's a pretty handsome billing! And that it is spread over many departments and offices doesn't reduce that figure - $1,000,000 per year! ... and for what? Essentially "news" in electronic form (maybe paper too, but I don't know). And the main point is - was this 8 million dollars GOOD value-for-money? That is the 8 million dollar question! Let DOGE find out! Bottom line: "Buying" premium subscriptions for NEWS is a laundered route to buying influence OF the news! HC-JAIPUR (08/Feb/2025) .

BBC International, that's GB's USAID (who likely gave money to far left organizations in the US in turn). Every time you hand a buddy money to give to another person, that buddy can keep x% without people being bothered. That's why they like passing it around like this. I donate 10 million to you, contract 5 friends to bring it to you, the last guy giving you 8 million dollars- you then thank me, state that you would like to find one of my projects for 8 million dollars, contract 5 friends to bring it to me, and give my tax payers back 60% of their money, which I then give to Malawi for malaria pills which makes anyone that complains racist.

@@vankwisher Same stuff happened in Greece in the 80s (as if they are reading the same manual). Enormous government expenses to "their own voters", outrageous number of hiring in the government with all sorts of new agencies, etc. Greece during that time received free money from the EU equivalent to its annual GDP, and raised taxes too, and still got bankrupt. To the extent that it is now mortgaged to the "Triad" of lenders for 99 or so years. *Let alone the discouragement of young people who do not feel encouragement to work in an unfair environment, and thus are leaving.* More than 450,000 young people, many of them highly educated, have left that country of 10 million in the last 25 years. Robby uses a flawed point that I keep hearing, that since it doesn’t represent a large portion of our spending it somehow isn’t important. Foolish argument that only makes sense if you believe you are arguing with fools.

Simple fact: Congress pays for a subscription to NYT - it's one shared account, that everyone there can access. Meanwhile, the White House paid the equivalent of roughly 220 pro accounts to Politico. Why would the WH need 220 separate accounts to Politico in order for the WH employees to better keep track of the executive orders signed by the president? - That's the question Robby forgot to answer to :P Oh, yeah - And the fact that Mikey J. pays kickbacks to Politico doesn't make it all kosher...

Seems like the logical conclusion to all this. Whether this is a something-burger or a nothing-burger, the government should be capable of providing real-time updates to the decisions being made that is accessible via a public website, rather than forcing everyone to pay for similar services from a politically biased news company. One developer could probably create a Python script that scrapes all government websites for news updates, categorizes them, and then posts them in a publicly accessible database--then charge $5/month per user to keep the server running. Might be a good source of passive income, for the developer too.

@@LanceFulbright Lashing out at someone for asking for a source? Interesting. When approaching the half of my people that didn't vote for Trump with bombshell info like this I like to have a source to minimize their scepticism. At this point, contributing to increasing support for Trump 2.0 is more important than gloating.

That's a straw man argument, Robert. (I can't call you Robby, because _transexuals_ say shortening a name and putting a "Y" at the end is derogatory.) The argument is that USAID giving Politico money at all is wrong.

This poor fella doesn't understand how DC works. They pay for subscriptions. Which is just a fancy way to give money to someone without actually just giving it to them.

So, if the money is delivered "in a right way", while it looks like a really bad excuse, there is nothing to see here... And the 44000 is ok? One dollar would be a waste, it does not matter how much.

Whether it is for subscriptions to Politico or paid directly to Politico, the $ still ends up in the pockets of Politico so there's no real difference. It is wrong.

So, rather than a simple internal memo service, the government needs to pay a third party to tell the government what is happening inside of the government... and that third party has been guilty of disinformation from the government... but everything is fine. This is a bad look Robby.

That’s my question. Why does the federal government need to pay for a subscription service that informs them of what they are doing. I know departments act independent of one another, but it seems any laws or regulations that affect a department could be sent automatically to them once it becomes active. We live in a world of technology, but why use it if they can just rip off taxpayers?
