My family, father's side, was from Central Eastern Scotland before there were clans. They were part of the move to settle France. Still gives me Scots blood. My mother's side were from Western Scotland and at some point went to France. Again, Scots blood. Then, a bit of Welch blood that is not yet determined from which side. There is also Irish in the mix. I am trying to trace that also. I am proud of all of them. I want Scot and Irish kilts. Wish there were Welch to add to my kilt collection.

I realize I'm way late on this, but to answer the question of the day, my Straughan line (my genetic YDNA line) came to the colonies in the mid-1600's in Virginia. They spent a bunch of time there (Northumberland Co.), then ended up in Kentucky (Shelby Co.) and Indiana (Crawford Co.). Straughan is a spelling variant of Strachan, both pronounced "strawn". Strachan is a small village between the Feugh and Dee rivers in Aberdeenshire. Clan Strachan was disinherited by Robert the Bruce in 1308 by being backers of Comyn, who Robert Bruce murdered in a church. Clan Strachan is currently working to get our first Clan Chief in about 200 years.

I have seen old pictures of a Cherokee wearing a kilt and sporran but the rest of the outfit was a Cherokee outfit and it looked really nice so he can work if you plan it right

Love you videos and products! Can you guys do a bit on different hats? What kind of hats look good with different kilts? If there is a hat style you recommend but don't sell what makers or sellers do you recommend? Right now all I have is a utilikilt from Amerikilts but I am busking with my bagpipes to save money to purchase one of your kilts. I want to add a hat to my busking outfit.

My grandfather, Dick Lyon Kirton, said that his father was chased outta Scotland by authorities. He had been accused of multiple crimes including murder and had fled to San Fransisco. Still having a difficult time finding a tartan associated with the Kirton family.

I watch your episodes after you publish them, not live. I'm watching this 7/24/20@1300 Mountain time. So, it makes no difference to me when you do it live. I have to wait until my dear wife goes out for whatever reason. She can't stand the background fiddle, it drives her nuts. I prefer to watch your episodes cast to my TV with surround sound.
