Bushmills for me, especially the Bushmills single malts - the 10, 12 and especially 16 year old.
@csulb7511 ай бұрын
I agree 100%. Bushmills is smoother and better tasting than Jameson to me. Also why anyone would pollute either with water or ice is beyond my understanding. I have had much more costly and more highly rated Irish whiskeys and have not found any to be better than Bushmills to me. I am not a connoisseur of fine sprits, but I know what like.

I actually drink a lot of Jameson ( that sounded wrong ). It works well with listening to some tunes. I would , however never choose between a Jameson or a Guinness. I drink them side by side if i have access to both at the same time ( i love stouts and porters ). To me Jameson is a bit of rock n’ roll juice. Even people who normally dont enjoy whisky/whiskey often like it ( like my sister ). A Lagavullin or Oban is more a cigar and coffee thing. Jameson more of a ”get in a good mood and enjoy 90’s music” thing. 🥃🍺

The rumour about Jameson being for Catholics and Bushmills was true in the 1970's during the troubles and shortly after, I'm Northern Irish and a family member was in the UVF and only drank bushmills, reason why I only drink it today and because of how nice it is IMO. I associate it more with nostalgia so that's why I enjoy it more.

I don't toss down shots. I sip slow. I buy Bushmills. I think Jameson's is a bit "softer" . Bushmills has a bit more bite to it. I can understand the younger folks who toss their shots preferring Jamesons. Now, this part may draw criticism, but I get to enjoy my whiskey my way. I like my Bushmills over a little ice. With that bite,it holds up better to the ice,IMO. I enjoy Johnnie Walker Red the same way. FWIW, I don't pour Red Breast or Green Spot etc over ice. Neither do I pour McCallans or any other fine Whiskey over ice. But IMO, its no crime with Bushmills or JW Red. They come out of the "Regular 85 Octane" pump IMO. Ice suits them.

I messed up. I never knew that Jameson was made in County Cork. My ancestors came to America from County Cork and I usually drink Jameson on St. Patrick's Day and today (St. Patrick's Day 2022 ) I decided to try Bushmills. Both whiskeys are good though. But I really like Tullamore Dew the best.

My Irish whiskey of preference is Bushmills Black, although I am really enjoying the 12 year that I got a great deal on. As for Jameson's, I think most variants are very drinkable but I haven't found one that is a better value for the flavor than Bushmills.

Jameson for me. Bushmills seems like it's heavier to me and tastes a bit Smokey. The buzz from Jameson always seems to be lighter and I have much more fun with.
@vincentmcnabb9393 жыл бұрын
Bushmills is definitely superior to Jameson. Much more complexity to it. Jameson is designed for cheap bar shots and as a mixer for Irish coffee or cocktails. It is what it is. The best Irish whiskeys come out of the Middleton stable, though. Rare old Middletons are as good as any whisk(e)y ever bottled.

At my favorite Irish pub, the bartender and I tried a number of regular Irish Whiskeys (i.e., not barrel select, etc.), and to be honest, I had a difficult time distinguishing between them. They do not have the distinction that Scotch whisky has. That does not mean that I don't like Jamesons or Bushmills, which I do, but they are very different from the distinctiveness of Scotch, which I prefer (particularly Talisker :-))

Just to clarify, gents, the Irish Tricolour doesn't apply to either drinks technically. They were both founded when Ireland was apart of the UK when the Tricolour didnt exist. Bushmills is now a Northern Ireland (UK) product. Hope this helps.

I'll stick with Scotch. Tried some Cutty Sark the other day, I was not impressed. Especially after having tried Scotches like Jonny Walker Black, Red and Gold, Dewar's White Label and my favorite so far The Dalmore. The Cutty was lighter in color which was a red flag to start with and the flavor and bite you would come to expect was very diminished, It put me in mind of the lite beer you guys tried, "One step above Clear." "I can feel the weight leaving me as we speak!" My own Quote; "Waterlogged, much like the ship of the same name!" NOT at all what should be going through your mind when drinking Scotch. I'm just glad I tried it at a restaurant (before they closed), That way I wasn't stuck with a whole bottle of what amounts to "Ghost Whiskey" (the spirit of what it was in a former life). I would like to try Tobermorey next but I can't find it anywhere. I would also like to try Logavulin but at $100.+ per bottle is a bit out of my budget. So, the moral of this story is more of a heads up to deter you away from the Cutty Sark; the Original Ghost Beer-er-Whiskey. I don't even want to call it Scotch. It is BAAAD Ju-Ju! Keep up the good work guys I'm still enjoying the videos and now the new ones with Coraline, Very Good! Very Well Done All!

In fact I didn’t taste an Irish whiskey which could approach scotch single malt. There are some reasonable Irish e. g. Jameson black barrel or Connemara (their standard is better than the 12y. ) but none of them gets close to a Scottish and esp. an Islay 😋🥃

LMAO! Okay, time to set this straight! The ONLY damn thing an Irishman cares about in his whiskey is that it contains ALCOHOL!!! If you think the Scots are pinchpennies, you ain't seen NUTHIN' till you've seen an Irishman at the bar. ... "Begorah, laddie, an' gimme the cheapest dam whiskey you've got. I'll drink it now an' taste it later..." For what it's worth... of the two, I usually drink Jameson's. BUT, I ALWAYS prefer a good single malt Scotch. Note, though; there ARE some GOOD Irish whiskeys out there. But not at THIS price point.
