Just a heads up guy's, the rule of thumb with good scotch is a minute in the glass for every year in the cask, so the Dalmore should of sat for 12-15 minutes before nosing or tasting. You'll find if you come back to the Dalmore in 3-4 months that this whisky will be entirely different in taste and nosing, you should come back to this one and do a re-review of it, you'll be quite amazed. Great show and New studio. Slainte'

Definitely it's good to let it sit for a while. This is advantage of taking it slow with small sips. Try it immediately after adding water and let it sit for a few minutes between sips and you get a different experience as times goes on.

the perfect way to follow that intro with The Dalmore this has become my favorite Scotch so far and I have tried a fair few since this video first aired Including Lagavulin, finally, (Very Peaty)! I am hooked just not addicted. For those who are unaware; Scotch is NOT a shooter! it is to be sipped slowly and enjoyed for the taste. If you are just looking to get hammered then stick with beer and have a happy hangover! When you are ready to grow up and slow down a bit and start to enjoy the finer things in life, then give it another try. Then welcome to the fine life baby! Keep on Rockin'! ;)

For Rocky, Mac, Ian and the other kilt makers; How did you get started in making kilts? Who taught you? Do you go to a specialty school or did you have a mentor? Who does the quality control after a kilt is made? Does anyone over look the finished kilt after someone's kilt is made? What is the future in making kilts, I mean any kind of updates or techniques presented in the process that is going to be a standard in the kilt making business?

@@USAKiltsOfficial That might be a good topic for a whole show and maybe have everyone who makes kilts answer this questions as maybe a larger forum. Maybe even have a show and tell where they show their "First" kilt.

Here is a BIG one guys; What is the difference between black tie and white tie formal? How do they contrast to both Highland and Saxon wear. Which out ranks which? And, What venues for each and how do they differ?

Congrats on the new space. Very nice. Even better.....first scotch to Christen the space... Dalmore. One of my favorites. Not a "peat" fan....doesn't mean I'm right.....just my preference. I watched waiting for the subtleties of the scotch to set in and there it was. Good scores from "peat people" ;- }. As always I love the UKCT vids. Oh wait!!!!! The UKCT "Fireside Chats"!!! Now there's something.

For the price there are better malts but it's not bad. Unfortunately they chill filter and use plenty of caramel for the colour.

Hey guys Love watching your content I’m sat over in Wales and loved the fact Eric mentioned HEMA I’m a practitioner of a few disciplines. If you want awesome weapons and so on related to Celtic/highland heritage try The knight shop they do everything from wall hangers, HEMA, re-enactment to real high carbon steel sharps even armours. Going back to your videos they are awesome plenty of information and humour. I know it would be easier to get a kilt and all from Scotland for me but if I ever get the money saved then I will most definitely be in contact and purchasing from yourselves.

Would it be ok to not wear a tie with a day wear braemar jacket and vest? I like the open collar look but I'm not sure if it's something that's done

Well I'm about to do that very thing when I fly to Norway next week . I will let you know if I get booted off the aircraft for not wearing a tie . I have already worn it without the tie ( or vest ) and for casual daywear it is fine by me considering so many people just dress in sweat pants and such nowadays . Go with it .

There is no unique like for like equivalent for morning dress in Highland wear. However in the UK any event requiring that has this dress code also permits you to wear formal highland daywear as a folk costume. This applies to any royal events as well. It is appropriate to wear formal highland daywear in lieu of morning dress to events such as Royal Ascot, The trooping of the colour, royal weddings etc. So my advice is to check and confirm with whoever is running the event and explain the background the formality of the outfit. Generally highland dress is more formal by default so you for example again in the UK a Prince Charlie with a wing collar shirt (in UK you only ever wear a wind collar with white tie) and black or white bowtie is appropriate for evening white tie, though you can make it even more formal and uniquely white tie, but for most events men wear a PC. So in other words don't try and create an entirely unseen outfit to fit the dress code because Highland Dress has it's own appropriate codes and these can be used in lieu of other forms of dress.

As for addressing the multitude of questions, I would love to see some short, casual selfie-style videos, no production quality required, just around the shop with a cell phone, answering a question as you have a minute or two. Or interesting or funny moments around the shop as they happen. I really enjoy these long videos, but some less formal ones would be great. Just my two cents.

Is there still McSavidge clan tartan, my grandmother and great uncles wore a tartan that was a middle green main color with wide yellow stripes with red,dark blue,horizontal and vertical stripes and I think a few other colors too, it has been quite a few years since I saw the kilts my family wore, but almost all of my family on that side of the family is deceased now
@Whatlander
@Whatlander 5 жыл бұрын
I didn't find anything under "McSavidge" on the Scottish Register of Tartans, though the Mississippi tartan looked a little bit like what you described? If you can't find any information about a clan or modern clan society on facebook, then you might try googling the name as a sept and see if an affiliated clan comes up. If the McSavidge family was a sept of some other clan, that might be the tartan your family wore.

@@Whatlander one of my uncles from Scotland came to Phoenix to visit his little brother while he was in the hospital for prostate cancer ,while he was here he told me that clan McSavidge was kicked out of Scotland for the uprising that they were involved in while trying to kick the British government out of Scotland, there was 26 clans told to leave or be absorbed into a bigger clan, the clan that they were to be absorbed into was Mackenzie clan

I'd like to purchase a great kilt in Ancient Campbell tartan and a Saltire tam for festivals. From a historical perspective, would these to items clash? Were there Campbell Jacobite supporters?
@USAKiltsOfficial
@USAKiltsOfficial 5 жыл бұрын
The Campbells were Hanoverian supporters before and during the '45. Now, technically this doesn't mean every single individual clan member was. It's _possible_ a few factions within the clan were Jacobite, but I don't have data and they'd have been renegades of a sort. Regardless, the Campbell tartan was what became the "Government Sett" aka Black Watch, so I would not use it for a Jacobite impression even if you do find evidence of Jacobites with the last name "Campbell". Hope that's not a downer for you. - Erik
