I served 6 months in Sangin 2009/10 with the British army. Nasty nasty place. We took the fight to the enemy but we didn’t have the numbers to hold the ground. The USMC seem to have achieved that. Well done them.

My son fought the taliban with his company from the dark horse outfit k-3/5 first marine division. 7 months of protecting his Marines with a M-40 A5 sniper rifle. I've never had a longer wait in my life! When he finally made it back to Texas at the airport, I was the happiest person in the world. I raised my son deer hunting and never thought that he would take his skills made for deer hunting would be put to use in warfare, but he swore that after 9/11 to join the marine corps and after graduation from hi school, he was on his way to Dallas and then to Camp Pendleton. When asked if he'd done any shooting, he said that his dad is a gun nut, and that he uses many different rifles for deer hunting according to the type of terrain that was being hunted in. The next question was which rifle did my son prefer to hunt deer with, and my son told that instructor it was the 270 winchester to which he said, Dam boy, you is exactly what the doctor ordered! Your country that is the homeland of many born around the world, represents much more. Hopefully for the sake of those who do not live there but we appreciate their crazy, fruitful and dangerous liberties, their cowboy authenticity and their collective intelligence, those who have the great privilege of being born in the United States or became adoptive Americans are able to defend it. The world is plagued by little men in charge of entire countries and towns; and of "presidents" notices that only simulate laws, completely indifferent to justice and the spirit of law. These tyrannies - some equipped with the atomic bomb - cannot afford the "bad example" that gringo give to the world. That is the question.

These are all regular forces units. The Marines with suppressors were scout snipers. The point of the variation of camouflage is because depending on which section of Sangin or any part of the country for that matter there is either more vegetation (woodland MARPAT) or desert (desert MARPAT). There is also a change of season as you will notice some shots are clear and hot, while others are rather dreary and "cold" the terrain dictates the type of camoufloge used.
@briancooper21122 жыл бұрын
In last 2 years Marines have been issuing suppressors to every marine.

I don't understand why people feel the need to compare the RMC to the USMC. Two very well trained forces, but one is much larger than the other. There should be no disrespect to either of the two, and it does not matter who is "best". People argue all the time about it on the internet but I wonder how many actually have a clue? The majority i've spoken to have loved working alongside each other. When I join in a few months, I look forward to working alongside the USMC if given the opportunity, or any other nations armed forces. It will be an honour and I would treat them not by flag or nation, but as a soldier and a man or woman doing their job.
