On March 7th, 2010 Pfc. Nicholas Cook of Hungry Horse, Montana was killed in action when his platoon was ambushed in Afghanistan. During the fire fight, he rose from cover to provide suppressive fire for his comrades, exposing himself to a barrage of enemy fire from a force that greatly outnumbered the platoon. For his valorous actions that day, Pfc. Cook was posthumously awarded the Silver Star. Five of the soldiers who were there that day serving with the 173rd Airborne Brigade's Battle Company, 2nd Battalion 503rd Infantry Regiment, share the story of their friend and comrade, Pfc. Nicholas Cook, in their own words. Produced by Jesse Granger. Video by Jesse Granger, Jim McGee and Sgt. Edwin Perez.
